This day in History - MMP

God and here I was, thinking that you all had actually hidden the sex from your friends (and you probablu have)… and VH didnt’ sound like Ice Queen. Ice Queen sounds like ME, to be honest. Christ, how sad is that?

Still drunk–am spreading my sambuca soaked wisdom throughout the Dope, cause I’m nice, dammit!

And the Dope is very grateful.

You can’t be like Ice Queen, because I like you. And I don’t like her. QED.

Y’all are hard to keep up with when I’m busy all day along. I completed the neck wrap tonight. I actually ran out of yarn, which is unusual for me. I usually have way too much left over. I’m wondering if the skein was short. It’s hard to say with one-of-a-kind skeins without a yardage meter or a scale. I think the project came out very pretty even so, if I do say so myself.

Anyway, work was hellish. Because of me, not work’s fault. I don’t know how long I’m going to last there at this rate. I really like this job, too. Stoopid brain. Why must it torture me? My friends have said that I’m a much happier person when I’m not working - what does that say about me, anyway?

Well, at least you took the first part of my suggestion.

But it was supposed to be. . .have a nice drink. . .not be a nice drink. :stuck_out_tongue:

Glad you had a good talk. And I hope you’re not paying for being a drink tomorrow.

Shadow, just gorgeous. I have always wanted to learn to knit, but I’ve never had the patience. Nice job! I could use a new winter hat. Kinda like this, but with your colors.

Ah, Sambuca! How can you not love Sambuca? (OK, I really like licorice, so maybe I’m biased; Ouzo is yummy, too!) Please post drunk often, rigs! That was hilarious!

HM, good luck with the new GSM. Any idea what he/she’s like yet? What happened with the last one? Reassigned isn’t much of a clue whether he sucked as a GSM or just needed a change of pace. Fill us in. I like work gossip, especially about bosses. :stuck_out_tongue:

Taters, you are not alone. Hubby and I play WoW, too. Well, hubby plays too much. I’m trying to cut back. It doesn’t hold the same allure it did three (?) years ago, though. God, I can’t believe it’s been that long. I can’t wait for the weather to change. I may get my old GPS out and take the kids out geocaching again. At least that hobby doesn’t make my ass get wider. :o

Oh yeah, something yummy for FCM and suds for Swampy. (Thanks for the tip, Mama Tiger.) Look at me! I’m name-dropping now.

You ever have those days when everything is funny and you begin to fixate on finding more stuff to laugh at? I just can’t stop laughing at all this DRAMA!

Nighty night, MMPers.

Rigs - glad to hear the sambucca-fuelled talks went well, even if you haven’t reached a resolution yet, at least you’re getting things out in the open. I know from what you’ve posted elsewhere that it’s been a long road but I’m sure you can count this as a couple more steps taken in the right direction.

There are some old pics of the FaerieKitchen here but I’ll be taking some more so that you can all appreciate the decorating. I have pretty much decided on the colour for the walls as there’s really only one contender from the four samples on the wall. I think it will look much better than what’s up there now - it was painted in a kind of caramel shade (only one coat and I think it really needed two) but once it was dry I didn’t like it so much. Anyway, I’m hoping for great things when Peter gets started. He’s currently working at my friend’s house and said it would be mid-Feb before he’s ready to start on mine.

Last night I was a busy little fae - 'im indoors had hinted he’d do the vacuuming now that we’ve got a replacement part for the Dyson but there was no signs of any follow-through on that hint. So last night I fed the cats, put laundry on to wash, put colour on my hair, vacuumed the floors, washed dye off hair, cooked dinner, washed dishes, hung laundry to dry in the bathroom, cleaned the cooker top and both the grill and oven doors, and then retired upstairs for five minutes in a dark room! By 9pm I was ready to sit down and watch an episode of Prison Break.

No wonder I’m so tired today, and my back still aches from the Dyson abuse. We really need to look for a replacement machine because at the last service, the engineer said the motor was on it’s way out. Next time, I don’t want a Dyson as this one’s been particularly disappointing but I need something that’s powerful enough to deal with the amount of fur the cats insist on carpeting the house with.

Oh well, that’s a joy for another day.

gt - thanks for the email about the cards, I’m all sorted out now!

Like hell you were! Unless I’m miscounting, you weren’t old enough to drink legally in That Big Country Just South Of Canada (With A Piece Just West of Canada, hi kai!).

Me, I wasn’t old enough to vote.
Been intahviewing like crazy. There’s some folks who want me to go back to Switzerland (yuck) and some who want to send me to Sweden (uhm, can I go there only from late March until September? I’m alergic to nights!) and someone who wants to send me to Mallorca and another one who’d like to send me to “a small village in the ass-end of Castilla” (but they do have internet). Methinks I’d rather go to a cookie factory in the ass-end of Castilla than to Switzerland, really.
Going to Toledo for three days, it’s one of the few Must See locations in Spain that I haven’t seen yet.
I think I’m technically old enough to be Haze’s mom, too, although by less than Taters. I’m old enough to be the grandmom of some of the guys I run into in WoW…

Well, once again I have missed the better part of about two and a half weeks of the MMP. I did get a lot of de-cluttering done, the bookshelves are de-junked and the books are separated by either author and/or genre. I have reduced a load of boxes into two laundry hampers and a couple of Rubbermaid totes, the easier to get the rest put away where it belongs…a lot of it goes on the walls.

I did check my email and ducked in when I saw I had been outed with regard to my birthday, I knew it wasn’t in my profile, but thanks herbs for noting it, and everyone else for the Happy’s. It was a good day, and I still have presents coming to me via snail mail! I remember last year noting that FCM and I share the day. Dare I hope that this puts me in the running for chocolates that she doesn’t want?

There have been some exciting moments in the last couple of weeks, including a trip to the ER at midnight because that was when The Son decided that he should show me his black, cold, numb toes, and an anniversary party that showcased me becoming inebriated, much hugging and kissing by tons of people who haven’t seen me for a while, and ended with a Russian groping me as we were leaving. Details to follow.

I am not current with the happenings in our Mummper family, other that rigs is a hilarious drunk and has a poop for a husband, and that FCM has a new kitteh, which happens to be a Bengal. They are beautiful cats, and the FairyCat is striking, but hahahahahaha! They are not your typical cat! I wish you the best of luck with him/her!

I also now have the cold that #3 Daughter had during finals week, but as I am able to sleep away the majority of the yuck time, I am okay with it, as long as it does not turn into bronchitis or pneumonia. That would be inconvenient!

I will do my best to check in tomorrow and get caught up, maybe fill in a bit of my life!

Hooooooh, boy. Some update from you.

kai, kiddo. I have no idea why you’re awake at this hour. But if you’d like to go on the map , you’re one of those kids I really enjoy to read.

Been a busy morning here… (yes, it’s afternoon in this benighted corner of the globe already!) Yays boos and whatnot to whoever I’m missing below!

Well… you’ve got the numbers right, but the Drinking Age in Rochester, NY was 18 when I turned 18, so there :stuck_out_tongue:

Good luck with the interviews!

I think you would have been a very young mom! I certainly could have been her father, though – but what would be the fun in that?

Speaking of whom – Haze, that snippet you quoted could describe… well, lets say it could hit pretty close to home here, without further details.

**Rigs **-- glad you were able to put things on the table. Crossing fingers for a good outcome for you (“good” defined as “whatever it is you want”). And hugs for being down :frowning: {{{Rigs}}}

**Boo **-- sounds like you worked too hard yesterday. You definitely should play today!

Brownie, that was hillarious!

**Spaz **-- it’s nice to be recognized, isn’t it? Good on you for doing good work, and congratulations on somebody paying attention!

Hey bbs2k, I am awake now because I slept all day Sunday with only one potty break, and also slept most of today day today! I used to be a party girl, and with my former-BFF-now-BFF-again we used to close the bars here on a frequent basis, which is no mean feat when you consider that the bars here close between 5:00 and 6:00 am, and they stagger the closings so that there is always someplace to go and drink!

I have gone to the map, and I would love to be added. I can see Kodiak on the map, but I don’t know how specifically you can place me. I live on Spruce Cape road in the middle of the block between Benny Benson Drive and the North Road Cutoff. A block from the beach, in between two eagle nests. LOL! I’ll be happy if you hit the island!

The Son is going to keep all of his toes, but it was close, and his toes will always be discolored and lacking some feeling, but at least he will have all ten toes. He has nine and three quarters of his fingers, that was a bloody episode! I am so glad that I had the three girls first before having The Son and deciding that he was the end of my babies.

And it’s nice to know that someone enjoys my random ramblings, thanks hon!

Howdy Y’all! Just drivin’ by here. Long day yesterday and probably another one today. That’s good though cause bidness is good. Off to caffienate some more and achieve purtification for work. I’ll be back with comments as appropriate (and in appropriate  ) later.

Bye Y’all!

Up and off to work. Pre-Lenten penance service tonight.

Mornin’, y’all. I rejoined the Y a couple of weeks ago, and I went for a swim this morning. It’s scary to think how fast in a year you lose the ability to do a 1 click swim; today I could only manage 500 meters.

In other news, I believe The NerdMobile is going to be voted out in a Tribal Council today. Less than a month after I dropped $300 in some hefty engine work, it’s doing the same thing again, and fuel injectors don’t come cheap. My mechanic has an old pickup truck for sale, and I think it will do the trick to tide me over to the end of the summer, when I can afford to get a new econo-box for the daily commute.

I’ve had the Nerdmobile for 3 years, put 60k miles on it, and it has 170k total. It’s time to go.

A cow-orker across the wall just called me a selfish bastard because I carried in coffee today instead of making it here. I told her flattery will get her everywhere… :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey, nothing to be ashamed of. I know lots of good people who play WoW. I just find it amusing how thoroughly addictive it is. That’s what’s keeping me from playing it. No time!

I overheard/eavesdropped on a conversation between Complicated Roommate and his Canadian Welfare Girlfriend last night as I walked down the hall. Apparently she’s afraid he’s “yearning for the past” being down here in the same house with me. She also called 234 times yesterday which caused us to be late for lunch and gossip. She’s getting clingy. I did that once–ONCE. Ended up with a rather abrupt breakup for my pains. I do not see this ending well.

For what it’s worth, Complicated Roommate and I are friends again. I wouldn’t take him back if he was gold-plated, but we can be friends. Too bad some people can’t accept that. Hell with them.

'im indoors plays WoSoddin’W. I liken it to being single again. Well, technically I am single in that we’re not married so when the absence of best beloved becomes too much, I will just pack up and leave. That time is not so far off in the future, believe me.

Up and caffeinating - have an appt. with the eye doctor this morning. New glasses are in the offing!

Kaiwik, sorry for “outing” your birthday! Actually, I had remembered that you’d said last year that you and FCM shared a birthday. Amazing that my brain can remember something like that, yet forget someone’s name when I’m talking to them (seriously, that has happened to me!). It’s good to have you back in the fold, and glad to hear that your son is going to keep his toes.

{{{{{{{{Rigs}}}}}}}}}; good to hear that you and hubby at least got stuff aired out; maybe you can work together from there.

FCM, sounds like the Bengal is going to be a handful! LOL And already he has made The List! Oh yeah, he’ll be running rings around Scruffy … and probably stealing her biscuits as well!

Okay, gotta start to the eye doctor appointment. Happy Tuesday, Mumpers!

Early morning. I should be heading out the door in 7 minutes. Methinks I won’t make it, so I’ll be on the 8:15 bus again.

rigs made me giggle. Nice that it worked out not badly.

Hi kai! I’m glad the son gets to keep his toes.

It’s raining out and there was thunder in the background somewhere. In January! :dubious:

Back tonight…

GT

Hi guys- a quick drive by post-

My kids earned their karate green belts last night- very cool! I’m particularly proud of my daughter- she’s not as athletic as my son and this has been a challenge for her. In her own words- “I learned I can be persistant!”.

My son was born persisitant…

Just a drive-by…

Hugs and kisses and chocolate as needed!
