Hey- Did I know you were a Western New Yorker? Cool- I"m from Buffalo/Amherst. Plus- my folks lived in Israel many, many years ago… (60 years actually).
Cool.

Cool.
Morning, all. I cannot type under the influence, can I…
I am up and about to face the day, but I think I might play hooky. It’s that kind of day–so I might cancel the non-paying library stint today and go buy a new vacuum cleaner. Nothing but glamour over here. Also, the fridge is only sorta cold this morning. Not sure what is up with that, but I vacuumed the coils just before Christmas (like the day before). So, perhaps I will look into that. I really don’t want to have to buy a new vacuum ($300+ for the one I want) AND new fridge/freezer ($godonlyknowshowmuch).
Have I mentioned the library gig is non-paying?
I slept well last night–no head today, except a slight sinusy thingy probably due to the fact that after snowing almost a foot here in the past 5 day, now it’s supposed to RAIN all day. :smack: ← smack of frustration re Old Man Winter.
It IS nice to have cleared the air etc. Let’s see how long it lasts. I am hoping it does for awhile. I basically laid my cards out and said I want intimacy-both emotional and physical-and if I didn’t get it in our relationship, I’d get it elsewhere. I wasn’t threatening him or delivering an ultimatum; it’s just true. He responded well to that and we had a very nice, honest talk. We talked about all manner of things; we were like adults or something. It must have been a dream… Hee.
Hope everyone (even the newbies–yes, I see you there in the corner. Hello!) has a great day!
Evidently, you can… just not very coherently.
Good luck… hope things really work out!
Boo, sounds like you could use a group hug along with Rigs
**Prof **(yes, that’s you, Ivory!) – I only spent that one year as a freshman at U of R; I’ve lived 40+ of my 44 years in Israel. Where were your parents from (in Israel) and when did they leave?
Morning MMPers!!
Just a quick post – I’m awake and at work. Is it time to go back to bed yet?
It’s primary day here in MA…[makes a mental note to vote on the way home]
Boo–you’d never leave your new kitchen, would you? Kick HIM to the curb, and keep your nice, new stuff.
What? Like none of you were thinking the same thing.
I am back from voting. I am slightly annoyed. There was this guy hanging around the polling place. These people irk me no end. In fact, I may well be cutting off my nose to spite my face here, but I do NOT vote for whomever they are pushing 500 feet from the door. It smacks of cheap advertizing to me. Your candidate sucks so much you have to hard sell him or her? Go to hell. No, I don’t want a little card with the names on them to “help” me vote–why not just come in with me and tap the screen for me? Standing there, pushing your guy is tantamount to that.
Grrrrr. I asked if he was legal and they got all huffy in the polling place. Supposedly he was out there to ensure voter respectability (what is the opposite of voter fraud?). I told them he was pushing X candidate. They said he can push whomever he wants. wth? Anyway, I did NOT vote for his guy. (his guy is a county commissioner, btw, or maybe a judge. I hate voting for judges–I can never find any info on the damned people. For all I know, I am returning misogynistic, racist, fundies to the bench. No idea.
Yeah, well so I got my sticker which I’m wearing. The polling people must be new-ish. I didn’t recognize any of them, and one lady wasn’t sure how to handle my (what do you call it–account? stuff?). I live in Homewood, but in the Flossmoor school district. This is too much for the simple folk here, even though there are Glenwood residents who go to Homewood school, and Chicago Heights people who go to Flossmoor schools and Olympia Fields folk who go to–but you get the idea…
Rant over.
Well, Mr Inappropriate could be your nickname, that’s for sure.
I’ve decided to skip office hours this week - I’m just too tired, and at this rate I’m going to be burnt out by midterms. I’m going to go home early, have a nap, and catch up on grading.
. . . I just realized that I assigned stuff to my students this morning thinking it was Thursday and not Tuesday. :smack: Okay, I really do need a break.
not-Dobby, I only have about a yard of the cashmere left, sorry. Although that might be just enough to knit a hat for a house elf…
I need to get my ballot in today. I’d rather vote in person, but my district has less (fewer?) than 250 voters this year, so we don’t get a physical polling location. Since I’m off work this afternoon, I can drop it by a district that does have one.
Whilst I would love to keep the fab new kitchen, I seriously do not want the rest of the house. Well, I would if I had about £50,000 to spend on it just to make it look nice. And that’s after I’d hired a fleet of skips to get rid of all his crap.
He’s finally signed up to the Dope too. I wonder if he reads my posts? If you’re reading this, get rid of that feckin’ multigym before I brain you with it!

He’s joined the DOPE? Why did you let 'im? You know I can’t talk about people behind their back in front of their faces! <puts on sickly, fake, chagrined smile. Why, hello, there Mr 'Im Indoors! How lovely to see you. We’ve heard a great deal about you…>
I hope you told 'im it’s like its own WoSW, without the comely elven women in grottos and the warriors…
I decided to go into the library anyway, then started having <pause for decorous euphemism to be dredged from brainpan> “stomach problems”. No library for me.
Morning, all. I’m up and caffeinating. Dogs have been fed and let out and are sacked out for their morning naps. In other words, the usual around here.
I’m glad your son gets to keep his toes, kai, but what on earth did he do to nearly lose them?
And I’m glad the air is cleared, at least temporarily, rigs. I’ve been where you are. It’s not fun. I hope it works out for you.
Congrats on your kids’ green belts, Soapy! Learning persistence is always a good thing. It definitely pays off in later life. It took the Air Force to teach that to my son, but he’s definitely learned it now. They made sure of that.
Our primary isn’t till next week, so we shall see if by the end of today it makes the slightest difference.
I’ve got lots of Snooty Old Lady to transcribe. I made Papa Tigs listen to the way she talked last night, and he literally broke out laughing, she’s such a caricature. Plus she’s a namedropper beyond description. Thank heaven for Google. I remember doing this in the pre-Google days; the reference librarians were our friends. I’m sure they’re glad we don’t bother them as much any more for things like the spellings of obscure Italian piazzas and the name of the guy who ran an art gallery in New York in 1927!
Don’t everybody work/play/whatever too hard. Me included.
First on the page!
We have a tenative deal, and the probability is high that I have an ex-NerdMobile.
For all of you in primary states today, remember you can always
It is time to get the Kermit pin out. (Ignoring the fact that I’m registered Independent and NC doesn’t have a primary until May 16th if then depending on when the legislature gets off it’s corn-fed ass and fixes the districting problems.)
This is not a paid advertisement or endorsement of the Kermit Campaign. Neither Kermit, the Muppets, nor any Henson approves this message.
Quick drive by this morning. The new GSM is pretty cool…he played hockey so I gotta like him. Our top salesman is sideways which is fun to watch because I don’t like him too much anyway. The old GSM was a great person, but not a good manager. His new position takes a lot of stress off of him and will be good for our retail group. He’s going to be a Marketing and Event Manager now for 2 stores. I’m happy for him.
For those of you who don’t know, I’m the Finance Manager at an automobile dealership. Maybe I’ll start sharing some stories with you guys. The car business is full of crazy people!
Happy Tuesday all!
Evening all. I am stressed out and fed up!
I have spent the last week working on a suite of documents for a large (read multi-billion $) project financing in the Tragic Kingdom[sup]TM[/sup] and have repeatedly lost my head up my own arsehole trying to draft and amend 15 documents at the same time. Unfortunately, the nature of the documents and the amendments I am making necessitate me advancing things on all fronts simultaneously, so by the time I try to track one change (even just a minor definitional change) through all the documents, I have absolutely no idea where I am or how I got there! It’s kind of like walking up the stairs to the bedroom for something and forgetting what it was you needed when you get there! GAH!!! Even more unfortunately, I have to have the key documents (about 8 of them, two of which are over 200 pages long) done by tomorrow lunch-time in time for partner review because they absolutely, positively have to go out to the other side tomorrow night!
I need to get back to them now, or maybe a little later, once the red wine calms me down a little! Sigh …
Well, we’ll give you honorary membership in the Western NY club.
My folks were there from 1948-51. They lived in cholon, but my dad was an Israeli soldier. Are you familiar with the kibbutz Yad Mordechi? He helped liberate them.
Dotty–that sounds awful. good luck.
I have to share this. #2 son is writing a story–he has 4 pages already and is going to “make a Word document, Mom, when I’m done.” Um, ok. His tale concerns a 4th grader on the first day of school. Much time is spent on the objects contained within the classroom, the teacher’s perfume and some of the kids. Here is #2 son’s descriptive powers unleashed.
“She screamed so loud, she sounded like she was a servant of Hades.”
I am still laughing. I have no idea wtf he is talking about, but it sure sounds good!
Back from vacuum shopping–it was “only” $199, which meant I blew any savings on several tops, one of which is a very cute grey knit sweater vest. I am off to knit and hope my stomach calms down. I am in the unenviable position of being hungry AND nauseated. Charming.
Howdy Y’all! I snuck home for a bit cause it was kinda quite at work. Gotta get back soon though cause I got some bidness to get done this afternoon. Then it’s off to church to celebrate National Pancake Day, AKA Mardi Gras. The kids are makin’ pancakes and sausages as a fundraiser. There’s no price, just a “donation”. The stinkers know that works better cause people will plunk down five and ten dollars as a “donation” quicker than they will a set price. It’s true! Anywho, they are raising funds for the heifer project and are planning to buy a water buffalo or two for farmers somewhere in Africa. Kinda jake of 'em I think. Water buffaloes are highly prized apparently.
Oh and I voted today. It’s sooper Toozday after all. I have my little I’m A Georgia Voter sticker. I’m wearin’ it on my shirt. Ain’t it keeeeyooooote!
Later Y’all!
I’m undecided about voting today, I almost never vote in primaries because I don’t like having to ‘declare’ who I am. There are people I want to support on both tickets, but if I pick one, I can’t pick the other.
Aside from that comment, consider this a drive by.
Toodles.
Whew! It has taken me until now (afternoon) to get through all the posts since yestiddy. Partly, y’all have been very talky and partly they are actually making me work today.
So, yeah…
Hope all turns out well, rigs. Your durnkin psots were funyn!
Kitchen looks really good, boofae. Is that granite?
swampy, why would water buffalos be highly prized? Aren’t they very ornery and cantankerous? Do they make mozzarella in Africa?
soapy, can I have honorary membership, too? I grew up in Binghamton.
I am registered independent so I don’t get bothered much but I also can’t vote for candidates in the primaries. I only get to vote on issues. I do not care because I do not see that either major political party has ever done anything for anyone who is just a regular joe shmoe party member.
Tonight it’ll be chicken boobies and zucchini squash. Right now I am eating some fresh strawberries that I cut up and sprinkled with splenda. Okay, but they’d be better with a good squoze of whipped cream.
We need a wester/upstate New York MMP one time!!!
