How’s Thursday for people?
Edward R. Murrow did. One heck of a journalist, he was!
Bachmann all but called Obama the antichrist this past week. Good lord, talk about poisoning the well.
The only thing they hope to accomplish is destroying Obama and his legacy. Make people fear him, hate him, resent him, distrust him…it matters not one iota if facts, the media or public opinion are on their side. They need to win this war for their narrow set of values, culture and their “people.”
Well no wonder she’s retiring. She’s not expecting the world to last to the end of her next term.
Isn’t trying to delay the End Times blasphemous?
You try and delay my blasphemy and I’ll show you the End Times!
James Fallows, who I usually agree with, says it also:
But I’m not totally buying it, because Boehner’s replacement will be worse. I realize that opinions differ on whether Boehner granting a free vote would lose him his speakership right away. But you know, midterm elections have a strong tendency to go against the Presidential party. Then a true tea party hardliner will get in there.
I guess you could say that if a real speaker from hell is inevitable, Boehner should resign himself to it and instead do what’s best for the country right now.
As others here have implied or said directly…
The thing is, there are elected representatives who are POSITIVE that Obama is a muslim socialist, the very next thing to Hitler, and the most evil thing to come along in their lifetime. Yes, he is actually the literal antichrist. They KNOW this.
You don’t compromise with the Antichrist. You fight him any way you can, as long as you can.
This is the mindset we’re dealing with here. Nothing less.
Regarding my Post#82 You are looking more right by the hour. I had not seen Boehner on the talk circuit this morning but this is what I meant by Boehner’s need to begin telling the truth - apparently he’s not ready yet.
.
The truth of course is that there are four more Republicans with 200 Dems who would pass a clean resolution right now.
So Boehner flat out lied and I wonder if Steffie called him on.
We need journalists who are sure enough if their objective facts to call out pols like Boehner when they flat out lie like this.
Why not say to Boehner that is not true you are lying. This interview is over until you correct the record and promise to be honest. I will not tolerated flat out audacious lying on my show. So what are you going to do? Right now! You have five seconds to answer and it better be right.
Are there enough House votes to end the government shutdown?
The latest twist in the budget battle is whether the House of Representatives could open the government with a so-called “clean” budget resolution - that is, a bill that deals only with the federal budget, and that does not address funding for the Affordable Care Act or defunding Obamacare, as many Republicans would like.
As of now CBS News estimates that 215 House members, including all Democrats and 15 Republicans, would support such a bill, meaning the votes are almost there, but not quite. This situation is in flux, with members’ preferences changing depending on the specifics of the bill, or as the shutdown continues.
As others here have implied or said directly…

That’s the joke, though. If you really thought Obamacare meant the destruction of America, why would your minimum demand be delay? That reveals this particular member to be a blowhard rather than a lunatic, I think.
Are you suggesting that the ACA isn’t living, breathing fascism? If so, i suggest you recalibrate your understanding of the term or the bill.
What the everloving fuck–are you serious? Moreover, do you expect EVER to convince anyone with rhetoric like that?
to bad they arent smart enough to relize that eventually the takers will out number the makers.
The actual takers are the people who could afford to take out health insurance, but don’t. Then when they get in a vehicle accident, makers like me have to pay for their taking.
I’ve heard that a few people on the far right, pushed in the corner I’m trying to push you, say that hospitals should just let those who can’t afford to pay die. But, thanks to the enormous unfunded mandate Ronald Reagan signed, that’s illegal. And there is no chance of the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act coming anywhere close to repeal.
What the everloving fuck–are you serious? Moreover, do you expect EVER to convince anyone with rhetoric like that?
Never seen a WillFarnaby post before, have you?
to bad they arent smart enough to relize that eventually the takers will out number the makers.
The takers are the ones engaging in rent-seeking behavior, and health-insurance companies are a prime offender there.
“Interesting” is an understatement. The Party of the Lunatics and Idiots is too Marxist. FauxNews is Fair and Balanced:
The problem is there’s not a party that thinks like us. We don’t have a voice in Washington. Or where else? The Republican Party? They might as well just have a D beside their name, as far as I’m concerned.
…
[Fox News is] about the only one that gives you both sides.
…
et cetera.
In a way, this nonsense makes me more optimistic! When we read that 35% of voters blame Obama, we can ignore it: A significant portion of that 35% couldn’t vote sanely if their lives depended on it.
What the everloving fuck–are you serious? Moreover, do you expect EVER to convince anyone with rhetoric like that?
Hey, he taught ME something! I didn’t realize most of the entire industrialized Western world was fascist!
Are there enough House votes to end the government shutdown?
That is CBS’s estimate,
He instead prefers to present bills that are supported by most or all of the House Republicans first.
As of now CBS News estimates that 215 House members, including all Democrats and 15 Republicans, would support such a bill, meaning the votes are almost there, but not quite. This situation is in flux, with members’ preferences changing depending on the specifics of the bill, or as the shutdown continues. We’ll keep you posted as the numbers change. Estimates are based on CBS News reporting from Capitol Hill along with the most recent public statements of House members.
The point is Boehner’s playing games… if he put a clean bill up today and he voted for it that’s 216… … all is needed is one more… and with Boehner taking the lead there’d be a floodgate of Repubs voting yes… in my humble opinion.
That is exactly what makes this Boehner’s shut down…
He controls it… and there are not that many Tea Party Reps to stop it.
Are you suggesting that the ACA isn’t living, breathing fascism? If so, i suggest you recalibrate your understanding of the term or the bill.
Your complete ignorance about the ACA is making you sound goofy. This website is about fighting ignorance, you should try to fight yours.
Interesting possibility here. Boehner plays this out and eventually falls on the sword. The TP pulls their support of him as Speaker. What then?
A new Speaker must have an absolute majority of all votes cast, including abstensions.
Not too difficult to imagine a TP faction only agreeing to vote for one of them and the less extreme to moderate portion of the party refusing to vote for one of them, neither of which has enough votes for that absolute majority. The Democratic Representative (assume Pelosi) also does not have an absolute majority.
After these two crises is the next shut down a House without a Speaker stuck in forever roll call votes trying to break this next stand off? How would that one resolve?
The point is Boehner’s playing games… if he put a clean bill up today and he voted for it that’s 216… … all is needed is one more… and with Boehner taking the lead there’d be a floodgate of Repubs voting yes… in my humble opinion.
What you said before is that Boehner “flat out lied”. When confronted with evidence suggesting otherwise you, without skipping a beat, switched to “Boehner’s playing games”, claiming that that’s “the point”.
I think you’re playing games.
