Yet another mundane, pointless thread.
One great thing about being a bachelour (maybe the only thing – Oh, and you don’t have to wear pants when you don’t want to) is that we can eat anything for breakfast that happens to be handy.
Yesterday afternoon I went to Versailles, a local Cuban restaurant. I bought two dinners: breaded chicken fillet and Cuban roast pork. Usually I just get the Cuban roast pork and it lasts me two or three meals. But planning ahead, I decided to have leftovers for today. I ate the chicken yesterday and it was “uninspiring”. Just a pounded chicken breast, breaded and deep-fried, and served with white rice, black beans and fried bananas. Amazingly, I ate the whole thing in one (long) sitting.
That left the roast pork (which is cooked in onion and lemon. Exquisite!). I mixed the black beans into the white rice in a bowl, chopped up the onions and mixed them in, then put it in the fridge with the rest of the meal. My breakfast this morning has been the beans and rice, of which I’ve eaten about half. The rest will go back into the fridge for lunch. Maybe I’ll have some roast pork for lunch too, or I might save it for dinner and finish it off with the fried bananas.
White rice, black beans and onions make a good breakfast. As good as left-over Thai food (mmmm! Pa-nang curry in the morning!) or cold pizza.
