Is this related to my issue? The board keeps refreshing itself over and over and over again for me. Another Firefox user here but this site is the only place I have this problem. I got to a page (any page: front page, forum thread listing, a thread itself, even this reply page) and it just loads, refreshes, loads, refreshes, loads, refreshes… until I hit Stop. If I’m lucky, it stops after the thread is loaded and not halfway through.
Very, very annoying. The problem comes and goes but, like I said, this is the only site that has it.
The weirdness I’m having today is that the front pages aren’t updating at all. That is, the last post I see attributed to any thread in any forum is from around 2 hours ago. If I open a thread there are plenty of posts but they’re not reflected in the forum page. For example, I’m seeing in the ATMB forum that the last post in this thread was **gommsn **at 7:37.

And, BTW, I’m using IE right now … use Firefox at home.
I’ve had that happen to me on occasion; no idea why. And the Quote function is also not working; I had to copy and paste what you said instead. AND, when I scroll down while writing this to see if anything new has been posted, I see nothing after gommsn at 4:37 AM.
As far as the Reply with Quote function goes, after experimenting I find that it DOES work with older posts. I can quote the 4:37 one by gommsn that I mentioned, and anything earlier. But Tubadiva’s post after gommsn doesn’t show up if I try to reply-with-quote, nor does anything after that either.
This raises interesting metaphysical questions. Is that post really there, or is it a figment of your imagination? If (b), then why is there a quote button?
Not sure what that was that just happened, only that it lasted for a while.
Sometimes the board takes a minute or two to catch up to itself – but this was much longer than usual. However the board did right itself without any human assistance. Just took a little longer than normal.
Wow! Just got back from the golf course. Seems to have been quite a morning here.
Tuba, I understand what you’re saying but I only check the boards twice daily, usually, so I don’t spend much inactive time on them. I check in, read any new posts that interest me and I’m outta here. Probably not more than, coincidentally, 30 minutes. There are occasions when I move from the Pit, which is where the boards open for me, to ATMB, maybe 10 minutes, and my login time has changed and from there on there are no unread posts. Does that make it clearer?
Again, if you think the problem is on my end, I’ll deal with it.
This has happened to me three times this week and it’s driving me up a f-ing wall. I know it’s not an issue of waiting too long inbetween loading a page because I’d only been logged onto this computer for 13 minutes when it happened, the first several of which I hadn’t even visited the SDMB yet.
