A lot of it is inedible. But there are a few things that are badly photographed and poorly presented (still unhealthy, but a good food photographer could have made it look much better).
I’d eat the creamtatos. And bacon wrapped onion rings doesn’t sound like a bad idea. (though I’d want them better photographed). And I’d try the infamous Paula Deen Krispy Kreme bread pudding (but I don’t really like bread pudding, so it would probably be just a taste)
I have a damn near insatiable sweet tooth, so I’d definitely have a few bites of all of the sweet stuff (and more than a few bites if I didn’t care about gaining weight and clogging my arteries.) All of the meaty stuff looks pretty disgusting to me, though. However, I do like sweet and meat- I have been known to put icing on bacon and eat it. Just looking at those pictures makes me feel a little panic-y, though, like I’m sure binge eaters must feel after eating like there’s no tomorrow.
I’ve tried a Monte Cristo sandwich before. I thought it was ok. It probably would’ve been better but I think it was a little overcooked.
As a kid I used to put peanut butter and sugar on both french toast and pancakes, then top the whole thing with syrup. Probably a little too sweet nowadays but I would definitely have it again just leave off the extra sugar.
I would probably eat several items on that site for a meal. Except for the larger items like Sex Panther or Widowmaker, where only a single one would probably satisfy my appetite.
My brother made choco-peanut butter by mixing choco drink powder with the peanut butter. If memory serves, there was also a product that was chocolate stripes and peanut butter stripes in a jar, like the peanut butter and jelly in a jar.
According to my French ex, in many parts of France a “pain au chocolat” is simply a chocolate bar between two slices of toasted bread or baguette. I mean, how trashy can something be if the French eat it for a snack? Er, don’t answer that…I remember several other “high gourmet” foods she remembered along those lines.
I was very close to having a Monte Cristo sandwich last weekend but opted for a Reuben instead. Good thing I didn’t eat something that would make me fat.
I know. It was just a little too rich for me. To me, chocolate + maple syrup = ugh. Maybe with whipped cream instead.
Oh, hey – I’m not saying it wasn’t GOOD. Because it was. But then, I’ll eat anything with peanut butter. (Well, there ARE limits) I guess that makes me a hypocrite.
I’d eat a forkful or so of most things on that site (the Krispy Kreme bread pudding looks especially tasty).
I’m not getting the mixture of sweet/savoury though (pork sausage with maple syrup, burger with peanut butter, Sausage McMuffin with doughnut, bacon with cake and chocolate etc). I don’t know why anyone would want to combine sweet and savoury flavours to that extent. From a taste perspective, I don’t think sausage meat has any business anywhere near a doughnut (I’m not even considering the health aspects here!)
Is it simply a question of “How can I make this less healthy? I know, I’ll pour maple syrup on it!” or is the sweet/savoury combination just more widely accepted in the US than elsewhere?
