My white elephant arrived and was hiding in my garage! Yay!
Picker sent me the following strange and lovely gifts (I love them all, even if I don’t understand some of them!):
[ul]
[li]Words CUBED - Poetry for your table. This is awesome![/li][li]Some funky construction orange, half-sized cones with the word BRINE on them.[/li][li]A NIB Linksys Ethernet card. Hee hee.[/li][li]An audio cassette of Joe Warren. I haven’t had the chance to listen to this, but it promises to be fabu! (Anything like Dr. Dirty?)[/li][li]2 CD’s - The Cash Box Kings and the Mel Ford Band. Looking forward to listening to them. :D[/li][li]A Baltimore Ravens flag. Go Team! [/li][li]The Book of Birthdays. This is cool… tells all about you according to the day you were born. I have to say, my birthday was spot on.[/li][li]A very nice smelling candle. Excellent! TYVM![/li][li]And finally, a recorder… yes, of the musical instrument variety. I think this was the most popular item for my entire family. [/li][/ul]
How could I forget the chihuahua?! Folks, our beloved Picker sent me a photo of this itty bitty dawg, and I thought to myself, “Aw, he’s giving me a picture of his puppy…”. Then I turn the photo over only to discover that neither Picker nor his wife have ANY idea who this dog is or where the photo came from.
woohoo!!! I just got my white elephant box from lainaf…and it has looooooooooots of goodies!
I (and my co-workers) had such fun going through all the cool stuff:
cute picture frame (which I put to use immediately)
ceramic painted heart dish
bag of Jelly Bellys (including buttered popcorn flavored-our favorite)
3-d Digimon pencil sharpener
handmade (by lainaf herself!) dream catcher
2 music cds (Tony Bennett-Unplugged and Rosemary Clooney x-mas songs)
2 wind-up bunny toys
coozie
angel paperweight
small bottle of perfume
letter opener
bookmark
Mississippi State magnet (I have good friends who live in MS)
ceramic hanging letter holder
2004 pocket calendar
Mr. Mom DVD
ziplock back full of assorted rubber body parts (noses, ears, fingers, lips–very strange)
5 each seed packets to plant carrots, chrysanthemums, wildflowers and tomatoes
5 pairs of small hairclips
ziplock bag of pecans (still in the shells)
container of Red Tea and container of Green Tea
bag of word beads
set of froggy sandstone coasters (I really needed these!)
Thanks so much!
my elephantee’s box is going to the post office at lunch today.
My box arrived in today’s mail from Phallo106. Let’s open it together, shall we?

[li]Fifteen “Galactic Empires” cards. Pretty pictures.[/li][li]40 white thumbtacks. Will be very useful in my classroom- keepers.[/li][li]A towel hook. I actually just bought a condo and was wishing I had a towel hook. Now all I need to do is figure out how to install it.[/li][li]Three snowflake-shaped Christmas tree ornaments. Will be added to the Christmas Box.[/li][li]A Handy Little Notebook, melon-colored. You can never have too many Little Notebooks.[/li][li]A small tool, whose purpose I do not know, from a lawyer in York, PA. Might be a letter-opener.[/li][li]A magnet: “If you like Fresh you’ll love Verdelli.” I suppose I like Fresh as much as the next person, but I’m reserving judgement on Verdelli until I meet him. [/li][li]A remote control, apparently for a Shintom brand VCR. I will keep this in a drawer, in case I buy a used Shintom VCR.[/li][li]A large ornament or small wall hanging shaped like a crescent moon, with a rather pensive expression. [/li][li]A bookmark showing Michaelangelo’s Adam and God floating in space. Kind of pretty, will be used for marking books.[/li][li]A metal object, possibly a bookmark, from the Milton Hershey School: “Changing Lives for 90 Years.” Metal bookmarks are an abomination. May give it to a student.[/li][li]A small pad of Post-it notes from the Harley Davidson Motor Company. Will go to school, as I always have a shortage of notepads.[/li][li]Two brand-new wooden pencils. One is adorned with blue and gold hearts, the other has a “Wow! Zone” logo. Will probably be lent to students and never returned, thus keeping them in circulation.[/li][li]A neon orange six-inch rulter advising me to test for radon, with contact information for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. [/li][li]An Anne Geddes bookmark, showing an unnaturally happy baby playing with its toes in a bed of roses.[/li][li]A small mouse pad from an organization which is dedicated to the elimination of domestic violence in York. Not sure what I will do with this, as I use a laptop and so don’t have a mouse.[/li][li]A Kermit the Frog doll. Quite cute, will sit on a bookshelf.[/li][li]A baby doll dressed as a snowflake. Cute, but not my style. Will be given to a student as a reward for something-or-other.[/li][/ul]
My package came today. Here’s what I got:

And my dog is having a great time tearing up the wrapping.
Thanks, skyclad72724.
I finally made it to the post office this morning. My White Elephant package is e’en as we speak thundering its way eastward! (well, actually, it’s more than likely sitting in the back of the post office waiting to get loaded on a truck or something… but you get the idea.)
Now I can sit by the mailbox awaiting mine guilt-free!
Evidently my elephant was sneaky… he tiptoed up to my doorstep while I was in the kitchen seasoning my new (old) cast iron pan.
From BrattiAtti I got:
Thing 1 and Thing 2 (yes!)
A set of fluffy, sparkily, streamery, pinwheel-y antennae which my cat cannot stop staring at
A stuffed Snubbes[sup]TM[/sup] doggie
A half a box of Christmas cards
Some sort of small, useful looking desk ornament that’s filled with that jelly-water stuff and has a killer whale floating in it.
A Dri Mark Duet Pen/Highlighter Combo[sup]TM[/sup] promo mug
An assload of Eastern Technical College promo stuff, including a fistfull of wonderful clicky-pens. I am a total pen whore, so this is terribly appropriate.
Also a scrub top
A large, obnoxiously colored birthday card
A flag sticker
A freaky green rubber spiky ball thingie that I thought was great, then scared the hell out of me when Mr. Armadillo squeezed it and it started flashing different colors. Now it’s great again.
A copy of “The Hieroglyphs Game,” yay new board games!
Thanks, BrattiAtti!
I’m still hoping I didn’t inadvertantly send my elephantee into some sort of parallel universe or something.
Well mine came yesterday, via UPS! I had just come back from the hospital, which is no fun, and saw this huge package by my door. I had to think for a second, then I remembered. So I pulled it inside with me and went for the knife.
I got a ton of stuff, and since I’m not at home I hope I remember it all. Most of it is movie memorablilia:
Some big poster on a hard back, don’t know the movie as it didn’t say but it had Julia Roberts and some other woman who I didn’t really know.
A poster for South Park’s Mr Garrison that you hang from the ceiling.
A can of the “poo away” or whatever it was from the last Jack Black movie.
A keyring from Grind, which is going to my skater friend.
A popcorn bag from Sleepy Hollow.
And my personal favorite a Herbert Hoover doll.
I’m sure there were a couple of other things I am missing. I should bring Hoover into work.
Herbet Hoover doll? That my friend is an Action Figure. (Who knew he was so barrel chested?)
Now he is mint in box so don’t take him out and play with him, though how you play Herbert Hoover is beyond me.
That is a picture of Juila Roberts and Cameron Diaz from My Best Friend’s Wedding. The head of Mr. Garrison is actually a mobile. You can hang it on a string from the celing, if you have 12 foot celings.
