Got it immediately. It made me chuckle.
Knew the song, but had no idea who sang it. Thought the joke would be about some lyric I didn’t remember.

I looked at it hoping to find some old forgotten words or ancient melodies.
It’s one of those jokes that isn’t really funny in and of itself. It’s self-congratulatory “humor.” You congratulate yourself that you get it, and award yourself a laugh.
