This slideshow will amaze you

But you have to watch until you see the photographer for the reveal.

You’re right - I AM amazed!

Incredible!All models! Fantastic work!

I agree, though I could tell.

Most of the cars were very convincing; but the ‘sets’ were too clean.
Or, you could just look at the title of the slideshow in the internet window.

“Photos of my models.”
That’s damn strong work, though.

Exactly, about the title. Very cool, though.

That is the coolest thing I’ve seen in a long time!

That was incredibly cool!

But you could tell by the manhole covers. . . too flat and shiny

I saw the title, too, which took away some of the surprise. Still damn impressive.

There are a few things in the pictures that give it away. The cars were parallel parked just a little too perfectly, and too close together, in some of the shots. Either they were staged or people had major OCD in the 50’s. A little too much light reflecting off the street. And there were some bends in one of the telephone wires that made it clear that it wasn’t hanging under and real weight. Little stuff like that.

That’s some amazingly good model work. I saw the “photos of my models” thing right away though, so I didn’t really have a chance to mistake them for the real thing. Although the fact that you mentioned that I should be looking for the picture of the photographer had me on a different track entirely. I thought that the “big reveal” was going to be that the guy had no hands or something, making his model-building feats even more astonishing than they already are.

I’m forwarding this to a friend of mine, who is a professional photographer and is heavily into classic cars.

Amazing.

Wow. Forwarding as well.

Was very impressive, and did amaze me, but there was just something ‘not quite right’ that meant you could tell they were models.

Not quite sure what it is, but I like to think it’s similar to the way that due to different Reynold’s numbers, scale models don’t behave exactly like full-size counterparts in fluids. But then I am a geek.

It didn’t, though, detract from the awemeness (awesome-osity?). Appreciating they were models made the whole set so much more impressive than a set of retro photographs.

Anyone know a way to copy the slide-show? A friend’s dad is into car models but he has no internet access. He’d really enjoy seeing this!

That was too cool! What an incredible talent!

I like the use of real outdoor backgrounds to provide a context for the model.

It was obvious by looking at the photos what they were. Good work, no question, but it was clear when you looked at the buildings what they were made of.

My daughter sent me this yesterday and I almost didn’t bother to look at it. I was remembering the models her brothers made from those dime store kits and thinking that’s what these were. Then when I started looking, I thought “Those aren’t models – they’re too real”.

Amazing work.

heh, I’ve answered my own question. I found and downloaded an auto-downloader for flickr.. So far it looks good!

Yes, you could see the materials and some of the lines were too crisp and clean on the buildings. I didn’t see the title, but I figured it out right away, however, part of what made it easy for me to identify is that I’ve seen similar quality stuff in a movie production studio. I kind of thought this was a movie guy’s portfolio.
