So why can’t it be both artistic self styling and mental health problems? I mean honestly, do we really know what sparked the ill will with Gauguin? Is that really the story or was it a sign of undying affection for the prostitute named Rachel?
As far as I know, Van Gogh’s style was a result of his mental health problems, which may have also affected his friendship with Gauguin. Not sure if I buy the story that he cut off Van Gogh’s ear in a fight.
I know computer graphics can be incredible, but MMRPG graphics require a certain level of "realism? I mean, do you really want to chase a bad guy across Gauguin’s landscape with peacocks, through a pond filled with Monet’s water lillies, far into Van Gogh’s starry, starry night?
Not to mention the hero cutting off his own ear to prove his bravery??? Couldn’t we at least design a storyline where two best friends become bitter rivals. Sorta like Hamilton, except instead of a duel, we can have an ear cutting, if the OP is so hell-bent on having a mutilated ear show up in the Russian Revolution.
Is this concept getting a bit too complicated?
I’m sure there’s a rule 34 of it somewhere, but I ain’t looking for it (shudder)
Okay, here’s the concept, an MMRPG game where all the backgrounds are based on famous works of art. I think it could be fun. Imagine you’re crossing the bridge from Munch’s The Scream, cross over into a Rembrandt, encounter Nude Descending a Staircase… what do you think? Maybe throw in some classical nudes, like The Birth of Venus, or Naked Maja, just to keep things interesting.
Okay, give me a few minutes, I think I can fix this. Make the ear cutting justified somehow.
Well, putting the space bug in Chekov’s ear definitely cranks up the squirm factor, but that was on Ceti Alpha V, or IV, or VI, whatever. I thought this idea was supposed to be at least somewhat related to actual history on Earth. I can really only recall three IRL “ear attacks” - Mike Tyson, the Apostle Peter when Jesus was arrested, and Van Gogh, except he cut off his own ear.
I think it has to do with Chekov’s famous phrase: “If you introduce a brain-controlling space slug that eats into your ear in the first act, then you better use it by the third act.” Or something like that – I’m sure that’s where they got the idea for Wrath of Kahn. That and making everyone cringe and go “ewww.”
Don’t pretend to junior mod.

I wonder what would happen if I pretended to junior mod:D
