I just had an interesting experience yesterday and thought I’d share (I’ve been lurking too long…:))
I went to my companies Christmas party last night. I’ve hear that past parties have gotten a little wild and was looking forward to a fun time. A woman that I’ve always found attractive (Susan) was there. Susan is a secretary in another building that I used to be in. I’ve known her professionally for the past 2 years. She is also married and has a 10 year old. As the night went on, Susan was having a good time and drinking quite a bit, but never appeared to be completely drunk.
To make a long story short, she essentially threw herself at me. It started when her and a few others started flashing others in the party. Then she started flashing must me (I am known for getting embarrassed easily). She then told me in private that she loved and respected her husband, but she “wanted to play” and that she wanted to play with me.
I was totally flabbergasted. I have never had this happen before and was quite at a loss for words. I don’t know if it was the alcohol or not. I did ask her if she would remember this and she said yes, but I still have to wonder. Don’t worry, I was a complete gentleman, but what a stroke to my ego!
Well, I just wanted to tell my story. You may commence with the discussion.
I agree with Mr Blue Sky. There is a saying that is very handy in these situations. “Never dip your pen in company ink.” Stuff like this is never good, and should be avoided like a hooker on Bourbon Street.
People, let’s not let our guest stand at the door, hat in hand, while we tell him what a gallant dude he is; invite him in for God’s sake!
Welcome, **sgl[/], may I take your coat? You’ll find chips and dip in the living room and a cold keg in the kitchen. Perhaps I could get Candy to mix a drink for you? Sign up for the pool table and try your hand at darts. Just make yourself at home.
I had some business this morning in the building where Susan works, so I thought I would stop by and say hi like I usually do when I’m over there. Well, she said hi right back, then when she realized it was me, her face turned beat red and she was nearly at a loss for words. She told me that she was very embarrassed for what happened at the party and that it was the alcohol. She apologized profusely and asked me to forgive her for her behavior. I told her that I figured it was because she was drinking that night and that she didn’t have to concern herself with it. She was very relieved and even told me that she didn’t even want to come into work today for fear of running into me, but was glad that I didn’t think any worse of her.
I’m glad I got to talk to her today. We were able to clear things up without any major embarassment for either of us. Besides, Susan really is a sweety. I know that she loves her family and is a really good and nice person.
The thing I still find interesting about the whole incident was that when she was drunk, she picked me as the object of her affections. It makes me wonder if she has a thing for me… even on a subconcious level. For me that would be a first.
Sounds like she shouldn’t drink. I mean no offense to you, sgl, just that the flashing, which came before the proposition, was highly inappropriate for an office party. Unless the atmosphere where you work is very loose. People often say reckless things when they drink (although that may also be a symptom of alcoholism), but flashing is aberrant behavior. No one should get that drunk around people they work with, and if she can’t be around alcohol without getting that drunk, she shouldn’t be around alcohol.
'm still on a high about the whole situation. I can’t help but get a big grin on my face when I think that “I” was propositioned by a really hot looking babe… and I mean HOT! What an ego trip for me! I’m glad I was a gentleman and all with her (It definately could have made things bad in a hurry), but when I remember how she sat on my lap and forced me to put my arms around her beautiful, skinny waist as she asked me to “go out and play”, it just blows my mind! I guess I should file the memory away as an “upper” for later when and if I need a pick-me-up.
Rilchiam: Interestingly enough, she told me yesterday that she would never drink again. I personally don’t believe it because I’ve been to some other parties that she’s been to and she always has at least one drink.
