I’m pretty sure no rules were broken… so why close a thread where no rules were broken? Aren’t we all adults here? And even if not, weren’t there sufficient warnings with regard to “NSFW” content?
I really just don’t want to be the jerk who got the thread closed… but I’d give crazy odds that a doper or two would have had something funny/interesting to say regarding dildo sharing.
Everybody was very careful about links, which I appreciated. I didn’t close it earlier, and I probably wouldn’t have closed it had it stayed confined to the OP. However, with the change in subject, who knows where the thread would have gone? Judgement call.
No, there was not a change in subject. There was one vaguely off-topic post that needed to be fixed so the link wasn’t clickable. It’s simply not correct to characterize that as a change in subject. Nor has that ever been used as a justification to close threads in the past - any thread could eventually end up discussing any subject. But it’s customary - in case you haven’t noticed - to wait until the thread actually does stray into forbidden territory before closing it.
If there’s going to be some new policy about not discussing sexual topics here, it shouldn’t be implemented in a piecemeal fashion. Since the only reason you have to suspect that the thread might stray into uncomfortable territory was that it was sexual in nature, I suppose I’ll have to assume that we’re not permitted to discuss “adult” topics in your forum. But calling this a “judgment call” seems inaccurate, because there’s no sign that it reflects any sort of judgment at all.
But I guess we should be happy we’re being so diligently protected against NSFW content. Things have been getting really out of control over on the Nicktoons message boards, and the Care Bear forums are in a board war with some Furries. I want my Internet carefully sanitized, vacuum-packed, and delivered to me in easily-digestable Gerber-like spoonfuls.
