A poster opened a thread asking for a source for a particularly gross piece of bestiality porn in this thread, and Dr Matrix quite reasonably closed it promptly.
Since this thread is a question about that decision, I’m putting it in the Pit, but let me say that I completely agree with the decision, and am in no way challenging it. But, being the insatiably curious Elephant’s Child that I am, I got to wondering about the reason for the closure.
I can see three separate and distinct reasons why the thread might be locked – but they are to a certain extent mutually exclusive. So I wondered which one (or combination) motivated the good Dr in making his decision:
[ol][li]The thread calls for obtaining for free a product which is offered for sale, and would therefore be a violation of the “no inducement to violate copyright” policy.[/li][li]The thread calls for a link to porn, and therefore the answer would be a violation of the “no link to porn” policy.[/li][li]The thread violates the recently announced “keep it in reasonably good taste” policy.[/ol][/li]
As can be seen from the list, there is a certain amount of contradictoriness in the reasons I came up with. (And of course I may not have thought of something.)
So I’m asking out of sheer curiosity – what reason(s) motivated the closure?
