For you, they’re ridiculously uncomfortable. For other people, they’re not.
In regards to the menstruation comment: You can purchase pads for thongs.
Horrible idea unless your flow is practically nonexistent. You can develop a front leak or a back leak depending how you’re sitting and how you stand up. Thong pads don’t provide coverage in case of a back leak.
If you have a heavier flow and can’t use tampons/menstrual cups/sponges/instead, then I guess you’re stuck with non-thong underwear for the duration of your period. Not really much of a punishment, IMO.
No, but it’s hard to match one’s landing strip to an outfit.
Some thongs are more comfortable than others. If I wear them, they are plain, cotton thongs. I learned quickly when my SO gave me some thongs sewn with plastic thread to stick with the cotton stuff.
I don’t wear thongs every day. If leakage would be an issue, I think I would choose to wear something else that day.
