I did an audio double-take when Thor was in the moving chair with the psychedelic background and they played a little Willy Wonka music. Did I really hear that?
It was actually Chris and Liam’s older brother, Luke Hemsworth.
Yes, they played a snippet of Pure Imagination there.
Enjoy,
Steven
That entire scene (with Odin, Thor, and Loki) looked a bit off to me – like the green-screening was rushed, particularly the background with the ocean. If the scene was changed at the last minute, in post-production, that might explain it.
I have to admit this was one joke that didn’t land for me. It completely took me out of the scene and was just too silly.
I thought the slight otherworld-ness added to that scene. It was somewhere and nowhere at the same time.
The further you go, the weirder it gets. It’s a classic science fiction/fantasy concept.
I thought they missed the boat by not using AC\DC’s “Thunderstruck”. “Ride of the Valkeries” would have been cool too, but in fairness there was only one Valkerie.
Liked it, didn’t love it, it swung a little too far to the GOTG side of the humor scale for me. Cate was awesome, as I knew she would be, I’ve always known she could play the villain, though she’s rarely cast that way.
and I thought it was perfect as it was also driving thor a bit crazy there.
When I saw Matt Damon, I kept looking at the Thor actor to see if it was Jimmy Kimmel.
ROFL!
I was disappointed they didn’t play “Ride of the Valkyries” during the flashback sequence showing the final ride of the valkyries against Hela.
Ok I saw it last night. It was good. I enjoyed it. It wasn’t great.
I definitely prefer the marvel movies with humor. I just thought this one would be funnier. Some of the jokes fell flat. Still good but the humor in Guardians was better and more consistently funny.
This was more of a Taika Waititi movie than a marvel movie. The humor was his style. It was a continuation of the dorky Thor character that was in the Team Thor shorts he directed. He was also the voice of the rock guy. I do suggest finding his movie What We Do In The Shadows.
I’m not too happy that the Warriors 3 got taken out like the guys guarding Herbert in Swamp Castle. Characters that have been around since 1965 deserved better than that.
That would have been awesome.
I’m hearing this complaint a lot, but I don’t understand why it’s a complaint. In the context of the film, it’s there to show just how powerful and ruthless Hela is. She’s able to stare down and take out 3 out of the 5 best fighters Asgard has to offer (Thor is away and Lady Sif is, I dunno, on a date or making a cameo in Agents of SHIELD) with absolutely no problem. It’s establishing her character.
Also, did everyone else read about how Valkyrie is apparently bi and the girl who saved her from Hela in the .02 second flashback was her lover?:rolleyes: Do we have to make up a gay backstory to a character in everything nowadays?
Spoilers for confirmation on the end credit scene and the Avengers trailer coming out.
I saw that Kevin Feige confirmed that was Thanos ship at the end. Not surprising since Loki grabbed the infinity stone from the vault.
At comicon they showed an Avengers trailer that hasn’t been released yet. The Guardians find Thor floating in space. So now you can connect the dots and figure Thor fights Thanos and loses then is brought to earth by the Guardians.
I’ll probably regret asking, but what or who are the Warriors 3?
Thor’s companions who’ve been around since the first movie. Ray Stevenson and Zachary Levi died before you could even see their faces, the third one was the asian guy who at least put up some kind of fight against Hela.
To be honest, the way that valkyrie lady and Thor were looking at each other by the end, I’d be a little surprised if Sif came back at all.
Full disclosure, I never saw the second Thor movie and I don’t remember much of the first beyond the broad outlines of the plot. If Thor and Sif are not an item in the MCU, I’ll be suitably embarrassed.
