I got that from the title of an old cookbook, and it is indeed my “Excelsior!” Whenever I can’t get up the moxie to do something, I just say “Be Bold With Bananas!” and darned if it doesn’t work.
I bought a wonderful Hair Yarmulke that I use for photos and the occasional TV or convention appearance. My hair is chopped off short a la Bea Lillie or Rachel Maddow, v. flattering on us ladies of a certain age.
Seriously? Have a second source of income. I make just enough profit on my books to pay for the research and photos on my *next *book. And now with bookstores a thing of the past and every boob with a printer “his own publisher,” it’s harder than ever to make a dent in this business.
Oh! I just remembered: I dreamed last week that I was asking a scientist if when Supergirl’s Invisible Dog eats her socks, does she see half-digested socks floating around her apartment, or does whatever the Invisible Dog eats become invisible, too?
The scientist told me that of *course *whatever the Invisible Dog eats becomes invisible, too, otherwise Supergirl would be seeing half-digested dog food floating around her apartment all the time, and she wouldn’t even *want *an Invisible Dog.
I like my Asleep Life so much better than my Awake Life.
Oh, Eve, what a delight to see your name on a non-zombie post! Glad to hear you are still as funny as ever and not dead! Always wanted to tell you about taking one of your books out of the library and it was falling apart, it had been read so much (and not by just me!).
It’s so good to see you again Eve! I was just wondering about you last week. “Be Bold with Bananas” is awesome and I will be using it. Don’t be a stranger!
I saw this thread and clicked on it with a certain degree of trepidation that my hopes were about to be dashed to pieces on the rocky shores of a zombie thread, only to have my spirits raised by the realization that Eve had in fact returned, even if it was only to assure us that the universe had not yet been deprived of her glowing presence.
So don’t be a stranger. This has been a slightly sadder place without the gift of your wit and class.
