Wow! Welcome back, Eve! You don’t know me, and we rarely crossed paths in threads, but I always thought you lent a bit of class to this place, as well as giving me glimpses into worlds I never knew…
Hey hey chicky babe. Good to see you are alive and kickin’. Whenever something comes up about old Hollywood, I think, “Eve would know!”.
i was thrilled to see your name on a post the other day, and was crushed to realize it was in a zombie thread.
Now I’m thrilled again!
Eve! I’m amazed. I thought you’d abandoned us. Good to see you back, if only briefly. Try to stay a bit longer. We need the wisdom of Old Hollywood Stars.
Don’t just disappear back into the ether again. Stick around for awhile. You were missed, welcome back, etc.!
You are thought of often.
Yesterday, I exclaimed to my wife “Eve Golden!” Quoth she: “Who?”
(I was just setting up Google+ and your name came up in suggested contacts. I was disappointed when I realized it was probably just becaise there was a ten year old message in my gmail or something.)
So good to see new posts from you.
I haven’t read any posts that I recall from you. But I’ve heard of your name very often. You’re a celebrity around here. So it’s nice to see a real post from you. I feel like I’m meeting a celebrity.
Welcome home Eve.
Now that you’re back, maybe my luck will turn.
Not quite. I went, “EVE??” (checked the date) “EEEEEVE!!!”
Yes, I squee’d like a little girl.
Eve, I know you don’t know me from a bag of popcorn, but I’m SO glad to see you again!
Yeah, I was like “WTH is it with these NECROMANCER IDJITS” and then I was like “Yah I’ll just click on it anyway” and then I was like
:o
STAY! STAY!
The legend!
There can be only one!
eve am legend.
Welcome back Eve!!!
Hi, Eve! Glad to see you are still in the city.
Now, now everybody, Eve is a busy lady and has a life outside here. So good to hear from her and know she is doing well. But we can’t expect her to spend all her time entertaining us. We CAN maybe hope that she checks in a little more often than she has, but perhaps she has difficulty posting ‘just a little’ and can’t devote the time that she used to. I for one will take whatever I can get and be happy. We can always buy her books, which are delightful.
So, how much does a guide dog cost, anyway?
I’m so glad that my first thought was wrong and this isn’t a zombie thread. Good to see you, Eve
EVE! Hello! I don’t think we ever spoke but I just adored your book about Theda Bara. I always thought it was such a shame that such an icon had never had a proper biography before and then your book came along and really, she couldn’t have asked for a nicer one. It was funny yet respectful, evocative and stuffed with awesome photos. I also loved the credit you gave to the intelligence of the filmgoing public of the 1910s. So different from books that conclude fans no doubt swallowed whole the enjoyable nonsense of the publicity departments instead of, as you convincingly argued, happily going along with it all because it made for an enjoyable ride.
All the best to you!
Oh, dear, now I am going to feel compelled to be constantly scintillating, or everyone is going to look at me like Mae West in *Sextette *and go, “*this *is what everyone used to be excited over?”
I have been busier than a two-dollar whore on Saturday night, as the Queen Mum used to say. Working at a photo archive, where one of my duties is writing and laying out celebrity obits and sending them to the media (my boss loves it when I can get one of our photos placed in the Times). I’ve also been doing a weekly obit column for Larry Harnish’s *Daily Mirror *blog: Eve Golden: Queen of the Dead |
And writing books; my last one, on Vernon and Irene Castle, laid a huge, ostrich-sized egg (I think three dogs and a cat read it). Just starting a new one, kina hora.
And of course doing the swanning about town thing: museums (the Met’s McQueen show was fabulous!), shows (*finally *got tickets to the Encores series), brunching and drinks with friends, even jetted off to Australia last year.
Oh, and I got stung on the head by a bee this weekend. I thought it was *bats *that got tangled up in one’s hair.
And you, dears, has life been treating you well?
Eve! -I was just thinking about you yesterday. Robert Osbourn for TCM is on vacation adn Tippi Hedron is subbing. Oh, my. And I thought, "What this intro to Johny Belinda needs is a little Eve.
