has anyone seen the series yet? I’m curious to hear what you thought. As far as first episodes go, I really liked it. They took quite a leap to tackle the religion and good vs. evil but I think they pulled it off well. But hello sodomy in a cartoon! That’s defintiely a first.
I give it a meh.
Either the humor was just to crude for my taste or it was over my head. I’ll watch a few more episodes (if it lasts that long) before I pass final judgement.
I remember waiting for a sequel to the net movie. Guess I was too impatient to wait all this time. They must not have advertised much since I never heard they were doing anything. I’ll definately try and catch it tomorrow.
By the by you can still download the original.
I liked it because of all the boob wiggle.
Oh, and they killed God.
Seriously, I did like it. Mainly because it’s so visually fun.
I’ll see your “meh” and raise you a seesawing hand.
Some of the religious satire was funny (no God = happy people), but there wasn’t enough of it. And re the boob wiggle, I got the definite sense that they spent a lot of effort on it to keep our attention from wandering off when there wasn’t anything else going on.
I doubt I’ll be watching again.
It had its moments, but I thought it was kinda weak. It certainly had nothing nearly as funny as the Darth Bobo fight in the original 'net version.
I think it could become something very good. Maybe very, very good.
Not nearly as good as it promised with the first movie. I’d give it time, but as it is, it doesn’t have the umph that the original had.
The idea is interesting, but I don’t know if it can be pulled off. If they had made the whole focus of the episode the aftermath of killing God and shortened the whole Time Travel Airlines thing, it probably would have been a bit more interesting. There sure do have some interesting ideas up there in Canada.
Never saw it. The ads turned me off because I saw so many retreaded jokes from Douglas Adams and other SF authors that I figured it wasn’t worth it.
Killing God is so Adams-esque that my point was made for me.
It made me LOL several times, which is more than I can say for pretty much every comedy on TV right now.
It’s not being broadcasted in Canada though, even though it’s partly produced in Montreal.
It’s got promise. I saw the premiere and then again a few days later. It got better on the repeat. The humor is crude, but not, alas, as endearingly crude as in the web short. The animation of Choad and the robot seemed less detailed than in the web short as well. But there’s a * lot * of stuff going on in the background, particularly in the airport scene. And the characters are actually pretty likeable (except for the warty alien woman).
I’ll keep watching it. Until SciFi inevitably kills it and replaces it with reruns of the totally lame and inexplicable Scare Tactics.
I’m going to get some smartass comments, but the “movie” you’re talking about is that 6 minute short film with a nude Six (the android) and the Clown Darth Vader?
As for the series, I think it’s very watered-down. It’s going to suffer the same fate that most of the other Sci-Fi shows have: Great airplay, cult following, canceled when it starts getting good.
I thought it was a promising start … I’ve never seen any of the prior stuff you guys have mentioned … but my enjoyment of it is hindered by
- then knowledge that the sexy alien babe is never gonna be all THAT sexy on a non-premium channel, and
- the knowledge that it will be cancelled by the SciFi Channel people once it starts getting really good (if it does). It’s like they can SMELL quality, and they HATE it.
The old Six was so much better. I especially liked the haircut and glowing eyes. Especially the glowing eyes.
Yeah, me too. I suspect they might have tried to make the new Six look more like the actress who voices her, Gina Gershon.
In the future, aliens and robots will often have huge breasts.
They will not, however, be very funny.
I think the second episode brought the funny. When the warty character was waving that robot dildo around I laughed so hard that I cried. And the whole “why corporations sponsor Make A Wish” was genius.
I really like the social satire aspect the show has going for it.
bump. who watched the show last night? I liked the whole Singapore bit that they threw in. Fun way to see Darph Bobo in action trying to get rid of his arch nemesis.
I gotta tell ya, after last night Six of One has gotta be the hottest babe in SF, period. I like her taste in men … i.e., she likes all of them.
