Thoughts On Watching Upcoming November Presidential Election Night?

I’ll be watching it, but Tuesdays I don’t get home from work till about 7:30 pm Pacific Time usually, so the election might be decided by that time already. Certainly I’ll only have to wait a half hour, until the polls close in California at 8.

No. I’ll vote, but I’ll find out the results the next morning.

I won’t be watching anything. Usually in the evenings I tinker on the computer and read a book.

I’ve never watched the results and have zero interest in watching. Watching won’t change it and so the next day is soon enough for me to find out.

I’ll watch both on TV (CNN/Comedy Central) and online until the swing states are decided, then I’ll either go to bed or start drinking heavily.

Just luck that I was in Mexico on vacation during the Bush v. Gore debacle. Many Americans were gathered at the hotel bar and when networks started to declare Gore the winner a few cheered and a few jeered. I retired to my room.

I flipped on CNN and fell asleep. Sometime later I woke up and heard an announcer declaring Bush the winner. Hazy wonderful sleep, aided by a touch of the earlier alcohol, overcame me.

When I awoke in the morning I couldn’t tell if it was a dream or real so I tuned back in to the news only to find that no one was declaring a winner at that point.
Alas there was no “I’m leaving the country if the Democrat/Republican wins.” moment. I moved overseas for a job and have lived in bliss ever since. No political tv ads. Zero campaign phone calls. Nice.

  1. Yes.
  2. At home with family and off & on the computer.
  3. Skip around to get different takes on how it’s going. Especially afterward.
  4. N/A
  5. 10

Bonus question…
Watched both conventions and 1st debate. Will watch the next two. I know who I’m voting for but surprises do happen—like when Romney practically changed his platform the other night.

Now that the election is closer, I thought I would give this thread one last bump. Perhaps more people have made some plans for that night.

And feel free to change the bonus question to:
How many of the debates (if any) did you watch?

Still planning on watching whatever is on the DVR. My phone will tell me about any results. I have zero desire to listen to pundits talk all night regardless of their ilk. Two years too many of that.

I’ll be following the results on the Web, as usual. And will have a decent quantity of alcohol handy, because if things break the wrong way, I’ll need it.

Don’t have a TV, local radio wasn’t playing it, and my streaming was wonky for awhile.
Didn’t watch the first at all and have yet to see snippets.
Got half of the VP debate on the radio when I was in Orlando.
Saw snippets of the second on my work’s TV as I was working at the time.
Caught all of the third one on YouTube. Should have done that for the other ones instead as this was obviously the least interesting one, even for both of the candidates. It’s rare to have both candidates eager to change the subject in the same way.

*1. Will you be watching the election results on TV?
*
No.

*4. If no, what else do you plan on doing that night - watching a DVD, or searching channels for something else, or going out to a movie or go bowling, or what?
*
**I’ve got a long hunting trip planned that week [700+ miles travel]. I’ll probably still be on the road, listening to an audiobook in the truck.

5. On a scale of 1 - 10, how interested are you in watching election results that night (10 being very interested, 1 being not interested a single iota).
I guess a 2. Mildly interested.

Why?

I’m a conservative, and lifelong Republican. From my viewpoint, this election isn’t very worrisome. All in all, Obama hasn’t been a bad little Republican. When he was elected I was very worried about a liberal in the White House, but frankly his handling of Gitmo and the NDAA would cause even Dick Cheney to crack a smile. I’m not certain, but it seems likely that upcoming SCOTUS appointments would be replacing one lefty with another. He seems easily controlled by the right in Congress. So for me, the worst that could happen is the status quo, and the best outcome would be a slight shift to the right.

I view it kind of like the rest of the world. It’s just two moderate Republicans squabbling over minutiea.

It’s a yawner for me.

1.) Yes.
2.) An actual television. I’m actually taking the train up so I can vote in my home district, and so I’ll have access to the TV at my mom’s.
3.) Probably CNN.
5.) 10. I might even throw a party. Of course, I’ll be the only one there, and I’ll have to be in an online class during a lot of it, but still…

I’m out on a boat in the middle of the gulf of mexico, and I’ll be on-shift for most of the election results (I get off shift at midnight central time, so it might be decided by then).

I’ll be checking online, and here on the boards, since I have internet access while I’m working. At midnight I’ll go to the lounge and watch the results on Fox News since I’m sure that’s what all my coworkers will be watching it on. I’m surrounded by hardcore, HARDCORE, conservatives. I’m talking, “Obama is the anti-christ” level. So needless to say I am not open about my political views. I think there is one open Obama supporter on the boat, but he’s black so they give him a pass. If it were me, they’d mock me relentlessly.

I am a 10 for sure. I live for politics. I read political news every day. Election night is like the most important holiday, and it only comes once every 4 years.

I missed the 2nd and 3rd debates because of my job, sadly. Would have loved to watch them though.
