Threads you started: Success vs. Failure

I haven’t been here long enough to be on anyone’s radar. (I hope! )

The other board is a lot stricter (“family board”) (no cussing) but if you know baseball and your Orioles, they’ll put up with a lot.

Good to hear, if6was9. Best to keep a clean nose and a patient set of fingers.

All my threads experience a quick and painless death. I simply lack the ability to come up with a creative thought. Ah, well, I guess it is what it is!

Damn, Zeldar, just noticed your sign-on date and post count - you and I are chatterboxes, and you’re winning by a nose.

Well, Blonde, I just find things to post about, I guess. Usually I don’t put a whole lot of thought into them so they come pretty fast. I’d guess that 1 out of 5 is a serious post and the rest are mostly nonsense things.

But I’m not really racing or anything like that. Just having some fun.

One way to catch up is to get into a sort of running dialog with several other people. It can’t be me, obviously, or I’d stay ahead. Just get somebody else to have a conversation with on some subject. Better yet, several somebodies.

I guess I’m right behind both of ya chatterboxes! I’m more of a blowhard tho!

I thought this pirate thread would have about 20 or so posts and then fade away. But, we have some very creative people that were just waiting for an outlet. Now it’s a month old and 10 pages. Hoodathunk?

I started a thread on Sept 10, 2001 that seemed pretty irrelevant to everybody on the following day. It never got any replies.

There have been plenty of posters that have gotten on the radar screen and shot down with far less posts than you have.

I have only started a couple mildly successful threads. :frowning:

Most of my threads have 3-20 replies. My most successful thread was Odd Places to Find A Penis

Well, I’ve had it both ways…that sounds dirty, let me rephrase it.

I’ve had a few threads that received replies in the low single-digits. Or no replies at all.

On the other hand, on a lark, I posted “What weapon should I use to hunt a Tyranosaur?”…and got 109 replied, 2433 views, and was featured in threadspotting. Printed out, it’s sixty pages long. Not counting links.

I didn’t say I wasn’t grateful, but I was sure as hell surprised.

Apparently the arts and sciences behind good thread construction and titling have been on quite a few minds at times.

There was/is Mention the threads you were going to start but rejected which explored some of the thought that has gone into some of them.

I found it rewarding that one of the threads I mentioned there that had had virtually no response (max of 3) has suddenly come back to life and is getting good play.

This very thread remained in a coma until just yesterday.

Mood is a big part of it, I suspect.
