Threads you were going to start but decided not to

In searching through some older threads for ideas to recycle, I ran across Mention the threads you were going to start but rejected. which got 52 posts from 08-12-2003, 06:51 AM to 08-14-2003, 07:29 AM .

Rather than post to that zombie, I thought I’d let it serve as a starting point for this thread.

This thread’s title and the gist of that old thread ought to be description enough for what this one is about.

Have at.

This one.

Curse you Red Baron!!!

Almost started today, but I thought better of it:

Are cats vain? (GQ)

At least I don’t have glaucoma (MPSIMS)

Is it insulting to call someone a monster? (IMHO)

“Name the Doper at whose door you would most like to show up dressed only in Saran Wrap.”

“Two Mice, One Computer” - A GQ on how to get two mice to work simultaneously on one PC. Then I discovered the answer: Plug them both into the computer.

One that I have done at least a little research for:

What word has never been used in an SDMB thread?

I thought “carbuncle” had a chance but I got over a page of hits.

I know “bodacious” would fail because I use it myself at times.

Any ideas?

Well, with the interest in my wolf cub, I thought about doing an “Ask the” thread, but honestly I don’t know if there would be enough interest, so although I am bored out of my skull at work, I didn’t post it.

At Christmas, a rant about my husband’s lack of ability to understand that I can be upset that I got him every single item on his wish list and he didn’t get me a single thing on mine and still like the the things he did get me. But he reads the boards occasionally and I just didn’t want anymore drama over it.

A few others but ya figure if I can’t even remember them, it’s probably good I didn’t post them, right?

Bet this made you so frustrated you almost vomited!

Having recently discovered the awesome name Ruutu (last name of a hockey player on the Sens, though I then discovered that he has a brother that plays for the Hurricanes), I have been contemplating the Letter U to Other Letter ratio of his name (an impressive 3:2), and wondering what other names out there have a striking amount of a single letter, and what those ratios are. I think a thread about it would sink like a stone, though.

There has been some **fremescence ** around this board of late.

That actually sounds fun, maybe if you created a point system, combining the ratio, with extra value for more letters in the name into some algoritm that gives a numeric score

Ask the Amatuer Theologian

Is Asexual just as valid as Hetero, Homo, and Bi? (Related: Help me figure out my sexual identity, may be TMI).

What do you think about in the privacy of your head?

I wish I had fur.

OK, I’ll mention one that is kind of really embarrassing but seemed like a possibility. It was going to be about phrases you always replace when you sing along with a song, and with what. But the only example I could come up with for myself was:

Simon and Garfunkel

I hear the drizzle of the rain
Like a memory it falls
Soft and warm continuing
Tapping on my dick and balls

and it seemed too creepy to post.

But I’m glad I’ve now gotten it out of my system.

So glad I could be here for you.

Yes. Or rather, it’s a different dimension. There’s the range of preference and then there’s the range of libido.

You don’t want to know.

Me too.

I’ve thought about starting up a mini Ask Me where anybody could contribute and anybody could ask.

Who was the best president in your lifetime? (IMHO)

Is the song “Cry, Little Sister” about incest? (CS)

Most inappropriate songs to sing in public (CS)

That would be kinda cool, I think. I’ve occasionally thought about starting an ask-me thread about medieval cookery, but I suspect it would sink like a rock.
I occasionally think about creating dish-specific recipe threads, like the one about mac-and-cheese currently in CS.
I recently read a glurgy christian novel http://www.amazon.com/Shack-William-P-Young/dp/0964729237/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1236813031&sr=1-1 (my parents both read it, and then gave me their copy. I worried if I didn’t read it they’d want to talk about it) I wanted to start a CS thread about it, but didn’t as I thought it would be seen as trolling.

Oh, I have all sorts of ideas about posting topics, but given the political bent of this board, I’ve decided discretion is the better part of valor.

I considered making **“Why is the racial slur about blacks eating fried chicken and watermelon considered an insult by racists ?” **- something that bothered me for some time. I mean, “They eat babies !” makes sense as an insult to me, but “They eat fried chicken !” . . . doesn’t.

I searched though, and found several previous threads; the main consensus being that it’s because that is or was poor people food in the South.
