Traffic has been recently been blissfully light on area expressways, probably because of the economy. This led me to ponder a “silver linings in the recession” thread.
Running back Rashaan Salaam and Yankee SS Pee Wee Reese score well.

Shave off my mustache.
Before or after I rub one out?
Yankee? You’re just changing his team because it has more e’s than “Dodgers”.
Seconded. With anticipation.
Well, I guess that can be arranged. Any requests, in particular?
May I suggest (with trepidation)
I can see that one going into the third page by Monday, especially if the weekend crowd catches on.
I haven’t started too many posts, and the ones I have sank like a stone. I suppose my curiosities aren’t really interesting to anyone but me.
Anyway, there are a couple that I’ve considered posting. My problem is, should they be posted to GQ or BBQ Pit?

[li]What are parking lights for?[/li]
[li]Why do the headrests on airline seats tilt forward?[/li][/ul]
I mean, I’m sincerely interested in knowing the answer to both of these questions, but I tend to get a bit irrationally grouchy when pondering them.
Please…what kind of meatsack is going to post in that one?
Well, I would for one, Terran Cotter!
Whoops. I always get Reese and Rizzuto confused, maybe because they both start with R and have a bunch of vowels in their name.
Both of these, please:
•“1969: Soviets beat us to the moon…what happens next?”
•“You wake up in 1939…in Hitler’s body. What do you do?”
Oh god, my desktop is littered with posts I’ve started but never finished. I’ll start the thread, in the dope, but it’ll languish for days in one of my dozens of tabs. I copy and paste what I have into a notebook page and save it to my desktop, just in case the hamsters act up, or my computer crashes or something, but never get around to finishing them and posting them. I have one about Michelle Obama, I have one about the Stimulus bill. I have one about Obama’s appointments. I have one about the Omnibus bill and the right-wing myth of earmarks. I have one about various “Assholes of the Day” (that would have been, and still might be, a Pit thread) and I have several that just have tidbits of interesting things, serious, trivial, silly, political, whatever, I’ve come across that don’t really merit an entire thread (like the pink dolphin, or London From Above, an article about Kate Winslet’s sisters, Mike Royko in love, a 747 converted into a hostel, the tragic story of the Girl in the Window, the Crisis of Credit visualized, Pts. One and Two, or the disappearing car door and on and on). I still might start that ongoing thread, but so many of the links are old (“The media myth about the cost of Obama’s inauguration”) I’d have to cull. But then I’d want to add more new stuff, and it would languish again. Sigh.
