After all the recent tragedies involving kidnapped children, I was overjoyed to see this article. This child’s courage and presence of mind are simply overwhelming. I don’t know about the rest of ya’ll, but I really needed the reminder that sometimes the good guys win. God bless Erica and her family.
I had the same thoughts. What a kid! Nice to have a happy ending.
What a great story! Good for her!
I really liked this story too. Smart brave kid!
Yay! I heard on the news this morning that she had been found but I didn’t hear the details.
I’m so glad that she got home safely! I love this quote:
I hope they string them up in the middle of town and let the whole community have a chance at flogging them - then lock them up and throw away the key. I don’t think they really wanted any harm to come to the little girl - but damn she’s scarred now just because they kidnapped her.
The more I think about it -
Their timing seriously sucks - can you imagine with all the child abductions and murders that have been receiving attention in the past few months how angry the police officers and community must feel? The kidnappers will get the the frustration and sadness of those other cases taken out on them.
Oh well, sucks to be them.

This morning I was thinking about racism and how it still affects our society in a negative way.
Well it feels good to have confirmation that while racism does indeed still exist it is nowhere near it’s former level.
Watching and listening to a predominately white group of men eager to avenge the kidnapping a poor little black girl is heartening. You could tell that the officers were just as relieved and proud of little Erica as her family.
::wipes away tear of joy::

What a great story! Definitely a very brave little girl.

Let’s not forget the kids who helped Erica out of the building and contacted police. They did a great job too.
I saw this story in the local newspaper this morning, and I was absolutely thrilled!
Erica, along with the kid who saved her, certainly top my list of “The Cool Kids of the Month.”
I couldn’t stop smiling for an hour after I heard this.
