TigerDirect - Are they reliable?

I like them at least as much as NewEgg. I have no complaints about either.

I learned about TigerDirect from a buddy who was in upper management at Egghead for a while. He totally swears by TigerDirect I’ve had nothing but good experiences with them.

I bought a half dozen major purchases through Tiger. No complaints at all. And the one time I had a problem (back light went out on LCD monitor about 9 months after purchase) they replaced the equipment with nary a fuss.

I worked for a custom computer builder for a while, we often purchased from Tiger Direct. They were fine to work with, no real distinction between them and Newegg. I’ve only purchased equipment from them a couple of times as an individual and haven’t had problems there either.

Check out Amazon too. I’ve always thought Tiger and B&H prices were high.

My only complaint w/ Tiger over the years is that they sometimes subsitute cheap generic items. Like, if you order a $5 “USB Keyboard” they might send one different from the picture on the website. Not usually a big deal, but it’s bugged me a couple times when I was trying to order matching accessories for an office I did IT for.

Other than that, they’re fast, efficient, and have good policies. I prefer Newegg, but mainly because I think the website is better and there’s no sales tax (Tiger has a retail presence in IL, so they charge standard tax).

MrPanda has done 2-3 dozen transactions with them over the years and has never had a problem.

I almost use them exclusively for work purchases when I can. Mostly because if I put anywhere else down on a purchase order, I am told to go check Tiger Direct first, but in general, we buy stuff there. It all works, or mostly…

I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the speed of their delivery. We ordered a part after normal business hours on one day and it was delivered FedEx the following day. Very strange in a good way. I don’t use B&H or NewEgg as much because of that.

I use NewEgg often enough but I always check TigerDirect. Mainly because they have a warehouse store not far from me and I can often hike over and pick up my item that day. No shipping costs and instant gratification.

You can often get price matches from B&M stores if TigerDirect has a sale, especially in Chicago and other cities where Tiger Direct has B&M stores

I’ve never had an issue or quibble with TigerDirect.

I’ve been very happy with them.

So you’re assuming you won’t get caught dodging use tax?
