I am going to make a substantial purchase soon (laptop), and TigerDirect.com has the one I’ve chosen.
I’ve seen the site, um, cited here and there on The Dope, and I am under the impression that they are safe, reliable, etc. I’d like further confirmation, though, before I commit to a purchase. I would particularly appreciate hearing any negative experiences with the company.
As a point of reference, I am a long-time NewEgg customer, so my hope is that the Tiger will compare favorably to the Egg. (TigerDirect has the same laptop for $50 cheaper).
We’ve ordered from them several times, and have never had a problem. In fact, Santa is going to order the Boy’s new Christmas/birthday computer from them, and my husband just received his new monitor - no issues.
I’ve ordered quite a few things from them. My only complaint is that with some parts it’s not clear on the web site exactly what is included or not (i.e. does the disk drive include an SATA cable, that sort of thing). I’ve never had a problem with anything I have ordered from them.
Agree. They’re an established etailer with a good track record, but not always the best price. Don’t know what you’re looking for, but have you checked with B&H Photo?
I use NewEgg and TigerDirect about equally. Never noticed much difference in reliability, customer service, or whatever. They’re pretty interchangeable.
We had no problems at all when we ordered from them. The customer service was good when we had a problem. I would buy from them again.
Sorry, no negative experience to relay.
I’ve heard good things about them from my friend. Unfortunately, the only time I used them was for a (pre-assembled) computer which then failed in under a year. It wasn’t really their fault if one of the pieces turned out to be faulty, but it soured me on them a bit.
By contrast, I haven’t had any problems with the computers I’ve ordered by Dell.
One thing about them is that enrolled me in some kind of discount program that cost a few dollars a month without clarifying this latter point. In their favor, however, they refunded the first month’s premium and canceled it without protest when I complained.
It didn’t even occur to me to check B&H. I am a photo guy and I’ve bought tons of photo gear from them over the years and have always been super-satisfied.
As it turns out, they have the same model for $20 less and free shipping.
I have to investigate further to ensure I’m not overlooking something, but it looks like B&H will get more of my bidness.
Chefguy, you’re a genius.
mmm
ETA: Wait, it’s not exactly the same. The B&H model has a 750GB (vs. 500GB) drive. Woo and Hoo.
