Tim Hortons in Texas

Tim’s does bake its stuff in-store, I think. It’s just that it used to be made from scratch - and now it is analogous to the partially baked frozen breads sold or finished at grocery stores.

They are still better than competing chains for breakfast and donuts, especially in small towns (outside of Quebec). Their other meals and coffee quality might be a matter of taste. Canadians still speak highly of Tim’s, less than before, but these do not tend to be the most urbane and globetrotting segment. Still, Canada is a big place and on long drives it remains a welcome sight. It’s dependably fairly good.

Until 10 or so years ago Dunkin would bake fresh in each store. They took away the kitchens in the ones around here to make more seating. But it’s not too bad. They are baked fresh in a centrally located kitchen overnight and trucked to the surrounding stores. Lucky for me one bakery is in town and is happy to give us the fresh ones with slight defects that would get thrown out if we show up at the right time.
