Through my life I’ve had the pleasure of knowing both a Random Butler and a Sir Eridani Aldeberan Palmrose.
A couple of things from the OP. My mother obtained the last name Boozer from her second marriage. When she died I fought to not have it on her grave marker but was out voted. My uncle’s first and middle name is F Donald. No period and the F is not an initial for a name.
And at the hospital my where my new grandson was just delivered, someone named their new daughter Titicia. I pointed it out to my wife and asked her if that says Titicaca. We had a case of the giggles for a while. And what will this little girl’s nickname be in the future?
Oh yeah, there is a Dr. Payne at the hospital that my mom works at. She said something abotu Dr. Payne once and I said “Wait, you guys really have a Doctor Payne?” She said “Yes, why?” I said “Doctor Pain?”
She said that since she’d seen the name written out, she always thought of it as Payne, not Pain and had neverthought that it was funny.
My dentist was Dr. Kalich (pronounced like “colic.”) but that would have only been funny if he was a pediatrician, I suppose.
I went to school with a kid named (and I swear, I couldn’t make this up) Brock Lee.
What parent does this to their kid? When naming each of my kids, we went through a decent amount of effort to make sure we weren’t going to be consigning our children to guaranteed high school hell.
Brock Lee.
He went by Butch, understandably, and it wasn’t until some snotty classmate found the class register and told everyone that the truth was revealed.
I went to school with a Christal Chlear. And yes, that’s how she spelled it.
My aunt’s name is Sunny Dawn LastName. Her husband’s first wife was nicknamed Zede (zee-dee) so when my dad met Sunny he asked her what her ‘real’ name was.
A friend from high school had seven siblings, all with names that started with T. Not Timothy or Thomas. No, her name was Tanyale and one of her brothers was Turquoise.
My middle name is a combination of my grandmothers’ first names. Mary and Ethel. Mareth. I hate it, but at least it’s got a good story behind it… and I didn’t end up Mary Louise Ethel Elsie LastName. Thanks, Dad.
My brother went to school with Desiree Gherkin. He and his friends called her Muskrat Love, though.
My doctor is a Dr. Tusek. One day I had to make an appointment while I was at work, and after I hung up the phone one of my coworkers yelled over the cube wall, “Your doctor’s name is Too Sick?”
For several years I worked with a Richard Heade.
He preferred to be called Dick.
Cheers,
Vega
No way! Are you being serious?! Oh my…
There was a Dr. Butcher, who was a dentist in my town.
And a guy out at work whose last name is Stoner. When he worked in my area, the group he worked for had their names on a magnetic board to show if they were in the office or not. I arrived early one day and noticed that the anagram of “M STONER” was “MONSTER” and proceeded to arrange the letters so. I saw his reaction when he checked in and he left it like that. It stayed that way until the division chief came in and saw it and put the letters back in their proper order.
Molester.
If you don’t believe me you can read about him here (read the case caption):

I saw an article in the local daily TP roll recently about strange names. Its focus was mostly on the apparent trend of naming one’s children after brand names: Skyy, Courvouisier (sp?), Infiniti, etc.
The article sparked a discussion on a local radio station, which turned out to be quite interesting. One woman named “Brita” called in and said that people always ask her if she was named after the water filter (poor thing!). According to Brita, it was a popular name (in a cult-fad kind of way) in the 70s, IIRC. One of the DJs also said he had heard of a girl named Unnecessary. Wouldn’t that be a terrible name to have? “I guess her parents might have thought it had a nice ring to it or something” was the only explanation they could come up with at the station.
Oh, I remember that I had a friend in middle school whose initials were BMW. He was big on cars, too, particularly BMWs. I’m not sure whether he only liked BMWs so much because his initials were BMW, or which one he figured out first.
In January some friends of mine had a baby and I went into the hospital’s online cradle roll to see if I could find a picture of the tot. As I was scrolling through the names, I found a birth announcement for a little girl whose parents had unfortunately named her Dasani Evian. Think they were thirsty when they came up with that one?
My brother-in-law told us of a couple he knew named Wai Ting and Soa Long**. I’m sure I spelled them wrong, but you get the idea.
I know a Brita (pronounced Breeta). I believe it’s a family name.
When my sister was pregnant, we wanted her to name the baby Under (last name Weyer - pronouned Weer).
I’m thinking Ventrilo for our first born (last name Quist).
Hahaha… I can’t stop laughing at some of the names here… hahahaha.
Reminds me of a newspaper article I saw about brothers whose names were Winner and Loser. Cite here.
