One from Grrlbrarian, who I must meet one day, and it’s a beautiful, antique card with a floral anchor on it.
The other from Anaglyph, all the way from Switzerland, and it’s a lovely blue patterned chaise, on a round blue rug, in a white room. I like blue and white, and it’s a peaceful picture to look at.
Thank you both!
Mine should go in the mail by the end of the week.
Glad to hear my card arrived so promptly.
Actually, the chaise is gigantic and stands in the central hall of the main building of Zuerich University: see here, A monument to Emilie Kempin-Spyri, the first woman in Switzerland to graduate with a law degree and to be accepted as an academic lecturer.
Received a lovely one from needscoffee–the original Starbucks in Seattle. I have visited the original KFC (extensively remodeled) in Corbin, KY and the original Wendy’s in Columbus, OH, so this was a nice addition to the (virtual) collection. Thanks!
I will be sending mine out in the next day or so–really!!
At last! Postcards away – mine went in the mail today.
I have received wonderfully cool cards and messsages from ThisSpaceForRent (business signs in St. Louis and, yes, let’s do a Dopefest!), vivalostwages (scenes of a beautiful resort in Indio, CA, that I want to go to now), Anaglyph (the awe-inspiring Matterhorn) and from **Karen Lingel **(views of Santa Clara, CA, architecture). Thank you all! Seeing these makes me want to travel.
As my always-on-the-ball co-coordinator Elendil’s Heir pointed out a day or so ago, y’all have until Friday, August 14 to get your postcards in the mail. Over this coming weekend, I’ll compile a list of who has received from whom so we can keep track and I can gently nudge the the dawdlers. It’s not time to sicc **Skald **on them yet (so, down, big guy!).
I got a postcard from Big Norse! It’s of the famous Mutter Museun in Philadelphis. I’ve heard of the place on the Travel Channel and the History Channel, and would love to visit. I’m not easily squicked out, so that’s a good thing.
Finally back off of the road, and have 4 cards far (some already mentioned, but I had not had a chance to properly appreciate them).
Atomic Mama (1 card): Hand colored antique card “A glimpse of the Ocean from Oar-Weed Lane Showing the Oldest House in Ogunquit, Maine”
Lsura (2 cards): A shot of the oval office. I want to take a nap on one of those couches someday! Also a second card with a shot of Liberty Plaza in Georgia, and a comment regarding heat and humidity. Here in Orange County, CA it has been hotter and more humid usual - but not up to Georgia standards!
Anaglyph (1 card): Cool pic of a game of robot soccer / football at the artificial intelligence lab in Zurich.
So I am 3/3 in terms of receiving a card from each person on my list. 2 of my recipients have received a card, waiting for one more to make its way.
I got a third card, this one from anaglyph in Switzerland. Two older buildings, with large, almost window sized tiles on the front depicting various flowers, Very lovely! Thanks so much.
I got one of my cards! It’s a really cool vintage, “time saver card” - just check the boxes next to the sentiments you want to wing to your recipient! I am a “Dear Old Thing,” and grrlbrarian is “Broke” and “needs sleep!”
I’m sending out cards this morning. They are all written, just need the stamps. I have two sets of senders, so that will be six people. Five are in the uS and one is in Australia.
