Time for the "Middle of 2015" Postcard Exhange!

I got a postcard from Grrlbrarian!

With a beautiful view of the Rocky Mountain National Park. Thank you very very much! It is a magnificent photo, which allows me to vicariously experience (even if only a little bit) the greatness of that place

THANKS!

Baker! I got two cards from you today, one with bison, and the other with a map of Kansas and pictures of the State Bird, which is the Meadowlark, the State Flower- Sunflower (I knew that!), and the State Tree-Cottonwood. Thank you!

Still haven’t received any… :frowning:

Sorry to hear it.

Per the OP, all cards to be in the mail by tomorrow - thanks!

I sent the cards to needscoffee but there was a typo with the address they gave. So I’ll send again, no problem.

Hmmm…my cards to davida03801 and Why Child should’ve shown up by now. They went out same day as the one to silenius and he got his on the 7th

I have back-ups ready in case of non-delivery.

I have now received a Kansas Sunflower postcard with a Red Knot bird stamp from Baker, and 2 postcards from Cheez Whia: one featuring Cheez’s favorite produce stand, and one showing mines from the Colorado Gold Rush of 1859, both with pretty flower stamps. Thank you both! I’d have received them even sooner if I’d managed to type my own address correctly!

Ooh, didn’t know there was a typo. My card to **needscoffee **went out earlier this week but I would not be surprised to hear it hadn’t gotten there yet, distances being what they are–if the address was wrong, let me know and I’ll send something different.

I got a card from Cheez_Whia today, with a note about Colorado peaches being in season. There’s a picture on the card of CW’s favorite fruit stand.

Colorado peaches are my favorite variety. When my father was in high school he traveled to Grand Junction in the summers, to stay with a family his own knew. He’d work picking fruit, and especially peaces.

Ulf, I had a PM from needscoffee, I think they will get the cards after all. When the error was realized they contacted the PO, which is holding their cards. So tomorrow or the next day I expect they will have the cards.

Excellent.

My cards are winging their ways out in the world - & i got an awesome set of Pompeii cards from JoseB and a beautiful card of Anderson Japanese gardens from Pai325!

Got another postcard today! Thank you, Pai325!

A beautiful view of the “Anderson Japanese Gardens”, complemented by a completely KICK-ASS postage stamp of Boba Fett in the back! ^.^

Thanks a lot!

JoseB

I got a postcard from Ulf the Unwashed, a cute picture of some choirboys crossing a city street while in their outdoor cloaks. Thanks!

I got another cool postcard from Baker, of cows lolling about the prairie in Flint Hills, Kansas - hills named by Zebulon Pike.

Also received a postcard from Ulf the Unwashed, of “Rockford Peach”, one of the gals portrayed in “League of Their Own”, a postcard Ulf procured on a visit to Cooperstown, NY. I’ve never made it to Cooperstown, opting instead to go on a very cool tour of Hanford Mills, a water-powered sawmill in East Meredith, NY.

I’ve received postcards from all three senders, now!

Ahem! I would like to take this moment to announce that investigation reveals I did NOT forget my own address after all! It was submitted correctly, but happened to get changed slightly on the other end. I was, however, negligent in not double-checking it when the addresses were sent out. I’ll fully own up to negligence, rather than early senility, at least in this instance!

Duly noted.

All postcards should have been in the mail no later than yesterday.

I’m happy you like the stamp! I think I have two more Star Wars stamps, and then they’re gone.

Got two nice ones from cheez-whia: ghost towns in Colorado, and a farm market in the same state. I celebrated the latter’s arrival by eating a peach of my own. Thanks!

I cast my bread upon the waters in the form of one postcard to each of my recipients, and as the proverb has it, 'twas returned to me an hundredfold–well, double, anyway, as I received more postcards than I sent out. To even the scales a bit, I sent a second round under the wire on Friday…

I got a postcard from a hundred years ago! Although to be fair to the USPS, I believe NuclearBombPop mailed it just in the last couple weeks. The postcard depicts the streetcar that takes you from Minneapolis to the steamboat on Lake Minnetonka. Hmmm, I note the boat is called Minnehaha, does everything in Minnesota start with “minne”? Is it native american for “the” or something?

FYI–A Minnesota state law requires that one-fourth (or more) of the names of “cities, towns, villages, counties, streets, avenues, roads, alleys, highways, pleasure boats, streetcars, and freight trains shall begin with the prefix ‘Minne.’”

It is patterned after a similar law in Pennsylvania which requires that one-fourth (or more) of all highways in the state must be under construction at any given time.
