Time To Dismember (Rants of September){OLD}

Trying to find one that doesn’t get abysmal ratings is the problem. I was going to try TruStone, but they have ratings of 2/5 routinely. I’ve been using credit unions exclusively for the last 50 years without problems up until the last couple of years with my CU in Alaska. My CU in Oregon is still giving good service, but it’s in, you know, Oregon so physically accessing it is a problem. We went into US Bank when we first got here and it was like waking up zombies in there. Then the guy couldn’t get his computer to boot; not a good sign. When I asked about CD rates, he looked sheepish and muttered something about “they really suck”. Oh, well sign me up, pardner!

Under “Amusing coincidences”: When I was reading StarvingButStrong’s post about the rude customer I was listening to a YouTube video about Entitled People (there’s a channel called RedWheel where someone reads reddit posts - one of my guilty pleasures).

Please don’t seagull the kitty. If you are easily offended or squeamish don’t click the link.

Once while watching Law and Order SVU with the family, Detective Benson talked about a victim being seagulled. We looked it up. We wished we hadn’t. We were left with more questions than answers.

Last night I ran into a couple I haven’t seen in 15 or so years. It was really cool seeing them and catching up, but they looked so old!

Of course fifteen years has past. This has happened several times recently and it always surprises me that people have aged. I expect them to look exactly like they did when we last ran into each other.

For some reason, the above post reminds me of the title of an Alexander King book, Mine Enemy Grows Older.

I’m having an existential crisis and this is the only place I feel safe stating it.

Jimmy Buffett died. Twitter is full of tributes and puns and pictures and videos and songs and quips and funny stories about Jimmy Buffett. Here’s the thing … I couldn’t stand Jimmy Buffett. I’m trying to be decorous on Twitter but every goddamned, “he was a gift,” post, I want to respond with, “he was alcoholic buffoon, who’s songs all sound the same!” but so far I have resisted.

Try to remember, the times of September…
Oh, the Wells Fargo wagon is a-coming down the street…
Damned earworms!

What isn’t their name.

THINK about what would be a good name for a credit union that was started for IBM employees. If you try hard enough you’ll THINK of the answer.

And yet it made him a billionaire. Not that I’m disagreeing with you.

Yeah, I understand that. I was going to suggest you check out Wings, but their nearest location to you would be downtown. My brother thinks Wings rocks. I belong to one that was connected to an employer and I just never left the C.U. They are merging with another local CU shortly so they will be able to offer more than two locations.

I suggest the name hortense instead of Karen.

Whew, I’m not alone in this. But still I’m sad that his death made my friends sad.

We actually live near the downtown area (Lowry Hill). I may check it out.

I just switched my house title to be held in name of my living trust. I didn’t get any notification from the county-well my lawyer did in the form of a new deed of trust, mailed to a random person in a random town 15 miles away.
I have had no less then 3 scammy companies send out mail “invoices” for protection money from other scammers. There has to be a better way then the current one to lock down the ownership of real property.

We have a firm house rule about sharing chicken: the cat can’t have more than half, and he has to eat off HIS side of the plate.

You have every right to dislike his music, but what evidence is there that he was either an alcoholic or a buffoon? He made a lot of people happy with his music, and seems like he had himself a pretty nice life.

At least, in his songs and writings, he generally knew when to properly use articles of speech and apostrophes

The avatar is actually our dove.

The cat did figure out that his odds of getting some chicken improved a lot when his manners did.

“Whose”, not “who’s”. And you’re wrong about Buffett, too.

Fine. I’ll be wrong if you want me to be, but to me his concerts were the equivalent of Freddie Spaghetti singing If You’re Happy and You Know It Clap Your Hands, but with tequila for grown ups.

On August 20, I ordered a shelving unit from Container Store. A drawer frame, wheels, drawers, and a top.

The frame and wheels arrived on the 26th.

There’s an email saying the other package is running late - its ready for pickup but the carrier has not come.

That was on the 24th.

As of today - 9 days later - it is still waiting for pickup.
