Tina Fey on SNL, 4/10

No thread on yesterday’s Saturday Night Live? What’s this forum coming to. Former head writer and cast member Tina Fey returned as the guest host. Yes, there was the obligatory (and pretty funny) Sarah Palin sketch, in which Palin introduces her own cable network.

But the sketch the stuck out in my mind as rather sweet and thoughtfully written was the one at the high school dance, where an outlier teenage girl actually enjoys the company of her mother (who’s working the coat check) better than mixing with her all too predictable classmates. Only a woman could have written that sketch, and I’m guessing Fey herself did.

I actually managed to get my TV to hold NBC thru the entire show without having to rescan the damned converter box… that hasn’t happened in a LONG time!

Not a bad show, over all, I didn’t have any real laugh out loud moments, but it was enjoyable. Well, except for Justin Bieber… WTF? (And still, he was better than a rap “artist”…)

I found the high school dance skit a little sad for some reason. Maybe because I was like that socially inept girl (except I didn’t hang out with my mother!) when I was in high school. The Palin skit was pretty funny.

Is it just me, or does Tina Fey look like she’s had a boob job? She is a beautiful woman, whatever.

I got as far as Fey-as-high-school-teacher sketch when the kid (who I’d never heard of and had no interest in) started to sing, though I was already put off by his blatant cue-card-reading.

Fey-as-Palin, funny as always.

SNL so NEEDS Tina Fey.

Best SNL show in ages!

Is the Palin sketch on the intertoobs yet?

Thanks! “Are you smarter than a half-term governor?” Ah-hahahahahahahaha.

“I think you’ll be surprised at the answer to that one. I know I was!”

I laughed at Tina’s description on Weekend Update of that woman Jesse James is boinking, but I can’t remember it exactly. Something about “She looks like the doodles on a three-ring binder made by an 8th grader in metal shop”.

I was impressed by the nearly complete lack of Kristin Wiig being annoying!

I was thinking the same thing about Kristin Wiig. I think since so much attention was on Tina there was less of need for Wiig to carry the entire show herself as she does most weeks.

I was surprised by how much I liked Justin Bieber. He can’t act, of course, but he isn’t an actor so I don’t blame him. He did a good job with his performances and looked like he was having fun.

She wasn’t as awful as usual, but does ANYBODY find her old-lady film critic bit (Aunt Linda) to be humorous???

I have said many times that I think Kirsten Wiig is the single most attractive woman cast member in SNL history (I think she is absolutely stunning) but at the same time she is generally less funny than the genetic love childe of Rob Schneider and Joe Piscopo, (carried to term by Victoria Jackson) would probably be…

Personally, I’d give that honor to Tina Fey. I was drooling over the photos of her they showed when coming back from break. Especially the ‘farm girl’ one.

Tina Fey IS beautiful, no doubt, but for some reason Kirsten Wiig (ever notice the glamour shots of her in the opening credits?) just strikes me as almost ethereal—It’s a shame she isn’t more suited to comedy…

(I do think she has a few funny recurring bits, but her hit/miss ratio is terrible)

Damnit! We should’ve gotten a clip to go along with 30 Main Street.

Tina’s “Sarah Palin” accent seemed a little off. Sounded like she was sort of slipping into a Canadian accent.

I thought Fey’s skit with her as a stripper acting as the new CBS Gold Analyst to cover Tiger Woods was hilarious.

“Dog Leg”

I didn’t laugh much - Weekend Update is about all I get a chuckle out of these days on SNL - but I loved just watching Tina’s smart beautiful funnyness. She is a delight even when her material is not good.

Aunt Linda is her funniest bit and one of my favorites because it is so spot on of people like that. Hrumph!!

And Tina Fey is the most attractive woman ever on SNL to this old timer. Even the scar. That woman is hot, hot, hot.
