tiny trademark type

How do I make those little “tm” trademark things appear small and in superscript?

Hold down ALT and type 0153, like this: ™

alt+0153?

oh, and for more codes (more than you ever really wanted…)
ALT code list

Or, option-2 on an Apple® Macintosh™.

Ok, I tried the Alt+0153, but I’m not sure exactly what I was supposed to do with it. Can anyone offer more detailed instructions?

I’m trying to do this from the “Post Reply” screen. I figured out how to make the type small… how can I make it appear superscript?

I am somewhat clueless as to this sort of coding… I tried quoting Joey G’s post to see how he did it, where he demonstrated exactly what I’m attempting, but the coding eludes me.

I’m fairly certain I’m not entirely stupid…

Thanks, Troy, and that is exactly why I wish I still had a Mac.

Hold down alt, type 0 1 5 3, then release the alt key. Do this anywhere you would enter text (cursor blinking).

One trick I used to use before I discovered Key Caps was to make a bank of these special characters in a text file somewhere. Whenever I needed a ™ or a £ or a Å*, I would just cut/paste. But then again, you’ll have to come across them all before you need to use it.

Now if I could only figure out how to get option-shift-k to display.
.
Damn.

*-That’s for you, Neurotik.

The key bit of information missing is that you hold down ALT and type in the numbers on the numeric keypad. The “regular” numbers above the letters don’t work for this.

The ™ is a sort of fake superscript as it’s a standard character in most typefaces, and it’s just drawn that way. In other words, it’s not two letters superscripted.

As for doing ad-hoc superscripts, in HTML, it’s coded as text to super. There’s no vB code to do this here in vB Code.

There [sup]isn’t?[/sup]

Dang! I tried {sup}text{/sup} and it didn’t work. Oh well!

(uncurl thingies to make 'em work)

Ok, y’all are way over my head. I just wanna make a little trademark symbol. The Alt 0153 hasn’t worked yet, but I’ll chalk it up to my technological incompetence.

Anyone want to talk down to me a li’l bit? I’m feeling stupid, about now. :o

Type this in:

[sup]TM[/sup]

Here is the step by step version. Put your cursor in the reply box and give this a try:

  1. Make sure your number lock is on
  2. Hold down the ALT key
  3. While you are holding down the ALT key, type 0153 on your numeric keypad
  4. Release the ALT key, and your ™ will appear

gypsytrademarktest[sup]TM[/sup]

Woo-Hoo!!! I think this works!

Thanks, ** Achernar ** , that made it more clear to me. I feel less stupid now.

I think the ™ looks better than the [sup]TM[/sup]. Plus, it doesn’t hurt the spacing.

LINE OF TEXT
ALT0153™

LINE OF TEXT
SUPER[sup]TM[/sup]

That’s fair. I prefer using superscript because it’s more accessible, ie, others are more likely to be able to read it. If you want to use the character ™ but you care about accessibility, consider typing in this instead of using the Alt code:

&#153

Ha! Nifty.

Ok, my turn…
&#153

BINGO!!! Just what I wanted. Now, does anyone care to explain how I did that? :stuck_out_tongue: (Besides copy and paste…)

And PLEASE, what is the simplest way to do it again???
