‘Title Test’ - “Title Test” - "Title Test" - 'Title Test'

And an alphabetical list test.

interesting.

How’d you get those quotation marks to live?

“’”

Basically Manhattan, I did it by choosing to not preview the thread. What’s strange is, if you use “ and ”(alt+0147 and alt+148) or ‘ and ’(alt+0145 and alt+146) it doesn’t matter whether you preview or not. Those characters work properly in topic titles. If you use “” or ‘’ in a title directly from the keyboard and choose to preview, anything enclosed by them will not be displayed.

test

Ladies and Gentlemen, behold. Here we see two moderators goofing off in their spare time. What do they do? They compare vB quotation bugs!

I don’t know how these guys can keep up this rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle!

:stuck_out_tongue:

That’s it. Manny do you wanna put Coldfire on “The List”, or shall I. If you wanna do it and take the credit, don’t forget to fill out and submit the environmental impact statement.

Testing my new sig for irritating depth.

This is a test. It is nothing more than a test.
Had this been an actual post you would have been
advised of instructions on how to reply.

Hmm, straight single quotes worked in the post subject for me.

Let me see if I understand. The bug is with the preview function. If your thread or post subject contains straight double-quotes ("), and you use preview, preview truncates the subject starting with the first " . Right?

You can work around this bug in any one of the following ways:[ul][li]Instead of straight double-quotes, use single quotes or curly double-quotes as UncleBeer noted.[/li][]Insert straight double-quotes before you click on “submit reply” just after your last preview.[]Don’t use preview (undesirable).[/ul]Right?

Another option: Use preview as normal, but then hit “back” and go back to the original submission page, before submitting. The software then doesn’t know or care that you previewed.

Thanks, Chronos.

Protesilaus has pointed out another alternative. Instead of using double quotes ("), use two single quotes (’’).

regular quotation marks

Interesting. It looks like alt+0147 and alt+0148 pasted from MS Word (version 7.0) into the subject line cause truncation (which I learned the hard way in MPSIMS). But it appears that if they’re pasted from Notepad, it doesn’t truncate.
