Conservatives don’t understand economics. They think cutting taxes raises revenue.
For instance, any conservative that understood economics would support universal healthcare.
I don’t think rich conservatives would necessarily support universal healthcare, as it would mean more taxes and less political power*. But I do think a lot of working class conservatives would support it if they could understand the collective and even the individual benefits.
*Never forget the fact that higher taxes and redistribution of income is also a loss of power for plutocrats, and that is why they object to tax increases. It’s not the loss of wealth by itself- who needs money to enjoy life when you’ve got enough money to last 100 lifetimes without working a day in any of them? No, it’s about how the money can be used, by whom, for whom, and for what purposes.
