You haven’t really touched on the important issues for a California Governor. For example, have Newsom’s movies been hits? When he gives a fearsome look on camera, is he believable? When he stands behind a podium, speaking ordinary platitudes, do the voters feel he is absolutely right? Californians vote on these issues, apparently.
Sorry, I didn’t mean to imply that you ought to have known. My screen name is an old movie reference first, and possibly descriptive second.

Where is Jean Claude VanDamme these days?
Not him. His accent is almost impossible to understand.
It’s Chuck Norris’s turn anyway, isn’t it?
I’m not a California voter, so I don’t have a dog in this fight, but my impression of Newsom is that he’s mostly an empty suit. His affair with his campaign manager’s wife was pretty scuzzy, but maybe not wholly disqualifying, given California voters’ forgiving attitude. The next governor is gonna have a whole lot of painful budget cutting or tax raising to do, in any event, so it might not be a gig any Democrat would ultimately want.
I think Newsom would make a pretty good governor, but I’d rather stick with Arnie (if I could).
Based on name-recognition alone, the person with the best chance of becoming the next governor is Jerry Brown. Which is really strange, because when I first moved to California in 1977 the governor was – Jerry Brown.

He’s got my vote just for being Joanna Newsom’s uncle.
