While we still need to wait for the “official” results…I’ll go ahead with a “congrats!”
Job well done, Dopers.

Well, Pepsi has emailed my wife over the weekend and has congratulated her on being in the top 20, and gave her some paperwork to fill out. She is a little worried that they are asking for her SS# rather than the school’s 501C number. I suggested that she should get the principal to give that number for her to give to Pepsi instead…we don’t want to touch that grant money and then have to pay taxes on it! Some of this paperwork isn’t due until July (I’m guessing that is a expenditure report of some kind, showing exactly how the money was spent, but Therese will probably have everything done by March so the kids get to use it this year instead of next year. It still says it’s official results still pending…but it sounds like a done deal.
Woo hoo!
Yes. “Woo hoo!”

Yippee!
And it would be great to see some pictures, once they get it set up!
Very good news indeed! Congrats!
That’s awesome! Congratulations to your wife and the school.
Great news!!
Good thinking on getting the principle of the school to give the correct number.
I look forward to picture when your wife has time, I know she will be busy with the paperwork now, then waiting for the smart board to arrive and be set up. However, when all that is done it would be lots of fun to see pictures of both Liam and the other students in the class using the board – if all parties agree to have their pictures seen by strangers.
Once again great news! Kudos to Therese for doing all the work to get this in place, and kudos to you for doing the work to publicize the vetoing here on the Dope.
Update:
Therese’s paperwork that she submitted to the Pepsi Refresh Project has been approved to officially receive the grant money (by Mid February). She has requested the school to take some pics when the Smart Board gets installed…she will also have any parents/teachers sign waivers who want to be photographed (kids and teachers) and posted on the internet (not sure which site yet).
Hooray! Very nice to see funding going to such a deserving project.
Thanks for the update! I think we’re all looking forward to seeing the pics.

My step son is autistic and I have to say, the Smart Board in his classroom has been an AMAZING help in his learning. Congrats - and yep, I voted while the contest was going.
I don’t want any pansy-ass pictures of the principal pointing at the thing and smiling - I want to see it in use, and how it makes teaching the students more possible. A mini-documentary, I suppose. That’s what it’s all about. Something Pepsi could be proud of.
UPDATE:
My wife received a Visa Debit card for $5k in the mail last week…IIRC, I think the install date is either on the 10th or 11th of this month, a weekend.
I swear…I’m not making this up…YESTERDAY I was at a bar thinking “I need to dig up Yeticus Rex’s thread and see if they got the smart board installed yet…”

Correction:
The smart board is to be installed on March 6th…this Tuesday.
We will be there for St. Patricks Weekend for her birthday…but the debit card will be useless by then.
