There should be a social worker at the hospital/facility he is at. Or a patient advocate. Contact that person. There may be help for an indigent individual.
Sigh. I was going to post in here about my deadbeat no-job-for-four-years brother mooching off his wife and (I’d bet) having little to no money put away for retirement and who I expect to be a drain someday … but damn, some of ya’ll got it way worse. 
Yah I know, I know. She lent me a few hundred years back- though it was a week before I started my second job. I don’t see her actually doing anything about her circumstances, but I felt like I had to say yes at least once. I’ve been ranting all week about what great self-control I’ve developed, so let’s see if I can not eat or drink $500 worth of beer/restaurant food…
