To the assholes shooting at Republican HQ's - May you rot in hell.

It makes some sense. The Knoxville shooting was in the early morning. The shooter may have thought he was shooting into an empty office.

He was right, of course. But when you’re shooting at things, you must never assume this.

Having someone there, the blinds up, and the lights on, might deter this sort of thing.

I don’t know if a Democrat did this, but I hope it’s thoroughly investigated and the perpetrator publically humiliated and charged.

People forget that Democrats have been the target too. I rounded up these in just a few minutes, but vandalism has been happening all over the country, ranging from signs being defaced and stolen, to fires being set.

And of course, don’t forget the man who set a Marine van and himself on fire after learning that his son was killed in Iraq

The lies of this pResident and his minions are almost too much to bear for me, who has nothing at stake. I can’t imagine what it’s like to lose a loved-one in this war.

I had others, such as League City, Texas

Well, if they weren’t already masochists, they wouldn’t be supporting Bush.

But this is truly beyond the pale, no matter how much I disagree with the Republicans anymore. I’m hoping this is a random nutcase and not a Democrat with a grudge.

Don’t forget that now they can shoot up the offices with AK-47s.

Maybe it was an oblique attempt at saying she wouldn’t be intimidated. Your guess is as good as mine.

C’mon, Homebrew, if you time here has taught you anything, it’s that the Pubbies love to feel a sense of martyrdom.

Lina Wertmuller’s reputation not withstanding, I never liked this movie.

Yeah, I’ll concede your examples. But there are plenty on the other side, as well.

Swastika Burned Into Grass On Bush Supporter’s Lawn.

Computers stolen from Bush campaign office.

Teens use dozens of stolen Bush signs to spell out “Kerry” on football field.

Instead of this stupid finger pointing, on both sides, wouldn’t it be better if we respected each other’s opinions, and cut this vandalism and shooting bullshit?

The level of anger in this country right now saddens me. I do my best not to add to it. If that means denouncing juvenile tactics by some purportedly on my side, I’m glad to do so.

You know this is the first time I’ve heard you say something I agree with 100%

The problem, (which I’m sure you have heard be lament 50,000 times over) is that a return to the days of civility is simply not possible. What’s next small terror attacks and political hate crime? You bet, just watch. :frowning:

I grew up in southern WV, and it was a common feature of coal strikes to have company offices or union headquarters shot up in an effort to intimidate the other side. Fortunately, most times these shootings were in the middle of the night and no injuries resulted. Those days aren’t far past, and I can’t say that these reports surprise me much.

But, lack of surprise does not equal acceptance; if the shooters are found then they should be brought up on every charge an imaginative prosecutor can come up with, regardless of whether the suspects are Kerry, Bush, or Pat Paulsen supporters.

You may not have caught the line in the story about the lawn swastika:

Sorry I meant Dem vs. Rupub crimes.

Sounds to me like the Republicans have just found a great new motivational tactic ;).

I kid, I kid. This is fucked up; I doubt there are any regular board members who can defend this, or any of the other linked crimes.

[sub]although I am despite myself amused by the high school students spelling out “Kerry” with Bush signs[/sub]

Daniel

And it looks like your Democrat buddies are trying to give some Knoxville Repubicans that chance.

Let’s catch the shooter before we start uttering stupid shit like this.

Gotta agree. A nutjob is a nutjob, and no decent political party would want to have anything to do with him.

Alas, it’s par for the course for Brutus.

I disagree with your second paragraph, World Eater.

To be sure, political stances have gone so far over the top that it’s barely visible as a pinprick below them. But that has happened before, and we’ve come back from it.

And in that connection, I’d like to anti-Pit Mr. Moto as a political opponent who seems to have the idea that civilized discourse and agreeing to disagree and still respect each other remains possible. Would that there were more like him in this world!

Agreed. He goes on my special list right next to Bricker.

Daniel

If I’m on the same list with Bricker, I’m doing alright in life.

Whatever tone that list takes.

Compliments graciously accepted. I’ll do my best to live up to them in the future.
