Depends on the thread. IIRC, the only warnings after a hijack were in a couple of “Finish the X Story” threads.

Here are the rules for the PIT. No where do they talk about “require cites for any factual allegations even in the Pit.”. Lynn does state that “I really, REALLY don’t want to see joke threads in the Pit. ANY joke threads. If the jokes are too nasty for MPSIMS, then they’re too nasty for the Straight Dope Message Board.” ** I **would *assume *that a thread that devolves INTO a “joke thread” would come under this rule, but I am not Lynn or a Mod or any sort, so that’s not my call.
Lute Skywatcher- I don’t remember too many warnings on this either. But more than “hey, this is a thread of limited interest, don’t start threads like this.” :dubious:

Now it’s just becoming too much of a good thing. Humor is like a delicate rose. Wave it gently under your nose a couple times and it is a fragrant delight. If you had half the intelligence of a ham sandwich, you’d have figured out that the posting behavior you’re whining about is precisely what attracts people to this board. Irreverence and good humor (to say nothing of perception and insight) may be your own personal krypotonite, but thankfully, you are the exception around here, you dour little choad. You may not have enough gray matter sloshing around in your skull to continue a discussion despite a couple of humorous posts, but the rest of us aren’t suffering from congenital brain defects, and aren’t much interested in dumbing down the entire SDMB to meet your special needs. However, because I’m a charitable kind of guy, here’s a little free advice:

Using three rolleyes smilies in one post, especailly a post that only has two lines of text, makes you look like a moron. While this is certainly an accurate impression, you probably don’t want to tip you hand quite so early in the game.

If you make a claim anywhere on these boards, be prepared to back it up. Just because you’re posting in the pit doesn’t mean you get to make up any random shit you want and present it as fact.
