…I’m not going to be able to make it there.
The stone-hearted UK Immigration and Nationality Department is going to take my passport 14 days earlier than I was previously told for my visa extension. There are also further complications with the extension that are too difficult to go into detail about. Suffice it to say that, under the “caring, listening” New Labour government, I run the risk of being deported if I don’t comply. I’d lose my flat, job (well, I don’t care about my job so much :)) but more importantly any chance of reuniting with my wife.
So, some regrets are in order:
yojimbo: Thanks again for the offer to stay in your flat. I’ll have to make the same offer to you if we ever have an Ox[ford]Dopefest. On the bright side: you get half of Coldfire’s beer!
Coldfire: If you’re moving to London, we’ll have to meet up there sometime–it’ll give me an excuse to do more research in the Library (half of which time I end up spending in Indian restaurants anyway).
ruadh: Have fun at the Ireland match. Hopefully you’ll have recovered by then after the Dons take points of Celtic at Pittodrie this Saturday (we’re on a roll after beating the Tangerines last week)
To everyone else who’s going to be there: Have lots of fun, eat lots of “fush ‘n’ chups” and have an extra Guinness for me. Not that any of you will need any encouragement
