Today I purchased via the internet:

2.5 Kilos of Vegemite
1 kilo of Marmite
250 mg of Promite
8 oz of Bovril (no, I don’t know why that was dispensed in ounces)
24 cans of Underwood Roast Beef spread
24 cans of Underwood Chicken spread

What do you buy on the net because you can’t get it by you?

I have to buy leather watchbands online for my husband, because he can’t get the size he needs in the style he wants.

I often buy print music over the internet that is not easily available in Australia.

How long will that last you?

Close to a year. It gets used pretty regularly in the making of stews, sauces, soups, chowders, and plastique.

I regularly buy hot sauces, British foods and some Southern delicacies. Ever since my local market started carrying weird and small-batch sodas, I’ve cut back on my Internet foodstuff purchases. But Hometown Favorites still get a bimonthly order.

I’m guessing that will get you a visit from the Department of Homeland Security.

A soap by Roger & Gallet called Extra Vielle that I found in French St. Martin. There’s only one place in the states that carries it retail, (and that’s in NY) and only two or three online vendors. According to a woman I met who worked for their logistics company, there was a huge mess and their supply chain just fell apart.

Anyhow, that’s it.

2.5 Kilos of Vegemite: $29.99
1 kilo of Marmite: $18.95
Never having to eat dinner at Chez Qadgop: Priceless

Colibri took the words right out of my keyboard. :stuck_out_tongue:

There’s still 42 minutes left - I may buy a wireless router from Futureshop (only ~5km away) 'cause they have free shipping on it and I’m not sure if I can be bothered to cycle down there tomorrow.

What I want to get online is a Tritium keychain, but it would have to be from someplace dodgy, 'cause the reason I can’t buy one here is that they’re ‘illegal’. :frowning:

I like to get some of the things I use for soap and candlemaking online, like scents and unusual soap molds. The crafting stores near me have basics like candle gel and glycerin soap, but if I want something like warm vanilla sugar scent or ivory color chips, I have to go online.

I typically buy computer parts, upgrades or the like, because I find that I can get them cheaper online than not. Usually. However, my wireless AP/Router of 4.5 years recently died a sudden and traumatic death, so I went shopping for a new one. The old was an 802.11b, and 4+ yrs ago it was well over $100 to purchase. I went looking for a better one obviously and started pricing out the 802.11G with speedbooster. I went to my usual haunts and then finally checked at my local Best Buy - for under $90! Needless to say, I took it home.

Other than that, I’ll also buy books, and obviously eBay stuff online.

About the only thing I regularly order is the face stuff I like from The Body Shop. Since there’s not one in Youngstown, and to go to one I have to remember & plan to make the trip to Cleveland, Akron or Pittsburgh, it’s just easier to go online and buy it, especially now that their ‘love your body’ card can be used online.

Every now and again, the wife and I treat ourselves to some Chicago style favorites. It aint cheap, but to us, it’s worth every penny.

This spring we’re transferring to Wilmette, and I’m saving now for our first Taste of Chicago at Grant Park in over 15 years.

Why do you hate America?

What on earth is Promite? And Roast Beef Spread? These are all marmite-type things, yes?

I buy chainmail links online. I can get very fine jewellery siz links at a store in Toronto, but I can’t get stainless steel or anything in fancy colours. I just got about a pound of different coloured and sized links last month.

Did the warden promote you to running the supersecret “Cruel and Unusual Punishment” program now?

“Noooo! Not the Chicken Spread! Have mercrrghmmmph gurgle gurgle…”

Most recent purchase was a Campagnolo corkscrew. Closest store that stocks it was 1,500 miles away.

I hope you purchase some cardiovascular exercise equipment by day’s end…

Promite is neither marmite nor vegemite. Not as good as either, either. But one must keep one’s collection of yeast extracts complete, n’est ce pas?

Roast beef spread is a canned meat. Beef, I assume. Given its name anyway. Makes a nice sandwich, as does the chicken spread. No good delis nearby, y’know.
