Hello Chicago. I am pleased to report that I have had the heat turned off today, all day. Right now, with the windows opened wide, it is 75 degrees in the house. Did I mention that my furnace is not running? It’s about time.
Just a few miles north of you and I sat here telling myself that I won’t turn the air on, but I had been working outside for a few hours.
I didn’t turn the air on, and usually don’t until it’s really hot out, but I did take the risk of turning on my ceiling fan before doing my ‘annual spring dusting of the ceiling fan before I turn it on and blow dust all over the room’. Luckily, it wasn’t dirty.
Still haven’t switched to “no undershirt mode,” but I’m getting close.
Where were you a week ago when it was in the 80s?
I remember a single day last week, 4/12, when the thermometer in my car claimed 80 deg. To answer your question, I was driving west on I-80, at approx. the Cook County/Will County line.
Yep, that’s the day. It hit 81. It was also 70 the day before and after. We had a nice three-day stretch there, although the Sunday (4/13) was a bit short-lived, as the cold front swung in by afternoon.
Like most Springs in Chicago, if you take a nap or go to a movie, you are likely to miss it.
