Today's Star Trek Google Doodle.

why not?

So I’ll take that as a “no” to my question. No significance to 46 years.

46 is 23 x 2.
23, a prime number, is the sum of three other consecutive prime numbers, 5, 7 and 11.

But, 46 is also the closest approximation to the molecular weight of ethanol.

Romulan Ale?

Actually, I’m not sure why 45 or 50 would be significant, either. Divisibility by five? Big deal.

If you click on the dark dead tree to our left of Kirk, well…click on it !!!

This is hilarious. Before I read The Torah, I read The Torah.

My WAG is that there is no significance. What better way to take the world out of it’s woes today. Political upheaval / violence / mayhem / famine / global warming AND warning, than to evoke Star Trek ?

Cool.
^:)^

I agree, but let’s be honest, that’s the way it is.

This Google thing is celebrating an “anniversary”, and traditionally, more gravity is considered for those “divisible by -5, -10, -or whatever” year anniversaries. I mean, people made a Big Deal about my 30th and 40th birthdays (not at my request), but NOT my 36th or 42nd?

I was just wondering if there might be some type of Trek lore associated with the 46th anniversary, is all.

It appears not.

Then… there was The Federation Trading Post. First time I’ve even thought to search for it since about 1976 !!!

Man, what an amazing place that was to walk into.

Click on the rock, too. Note that the Redshirt ends up getting bashed every time as well as the Gorn.

The significance of 46 years is that it is greater than 45 and less than 50 - and we can’t say with any certainty that we will reach 47 (or that Google will still be doing doodles @ 47).

Do you celebrate all of your birthdays equally? do you skip the odd years?

So, my answer of “why not” is really just that - they (google) do doodles like this all the time, this is as good a time to do a trek one as any other, so “why not” celebrate the 46th?

The other nice thing about the 46th one is that it corresponds with my 46th birthday, and as my daugher put it at the 30th “thats really old” - so, I, for one, appreciate the google doodle celebrating the coexistance of Sim and Star Trek these past 46 years.

Well, I tend to skip the odd movies

i see just regular google :frowning:

ok i had to click on the balloons. cute, but lacking in activities. no bones that i see!

Razzin’ frazzin’ corporate firewall!!!

That’s a shame really. Because you are missing out on a once-in-a-lifetime experience of Star Trek awesomeness. I mean, this is the most thrilling and rewarding thing I’ve experienced in years. I’m going to have one of my Star Trek dreams tonight as I cuddle my stuffed tribbles and dream of Yeoman Rand.

I hear there are HUGE plans in the works for the

Milestone 48th Anniversary Celebration.

Prepare to be stunned, Trekkies!

That’s TrekERS.

You watch your ass.

Are you outside of the US?

There are no balloons on the one we’re seeing.

there are 4 balloons!

Is this some kind of Crips/Bloods thing? Trekkers vs. Trekkies?
