Today's weather - dry. Tomorrow-sunny

In Australia, they often give a weather report as ‘dry’. The next day is reported as ‘sunny’.
I do not understand the difference. Is this an Australian , or do other countries get this from the Bureau of Meteorology.

Dry means not raining, but not necessarily free of cloud ie not sunny.

Look 'em up in the glossary linked off the BoM page to which you linked.

Surely they would say the weather would be cloudy, not dry in that circumstance. The glossary describes ‘dry’ as ‘Free from rain’.
I understand that there is a drought here now. What I would like to know is this usuage used in weather forecasts in other countries.

Wow. No Meteorologists out there ?
