If you go to the homepage of The Straight Dope, and look down the list, you’ll see something called Weird Earls (a play on words of a weird URL). Click on the link, and you’ll see why someone might think this particular site is weird.
ETA: 'Course you probably know all this and you’re just saying that you don’t understand because you yourself bear a striking resemblance to Mr. Attorney Guy.

Okay since people have actually responded to the thread, I’ll explain what I originally wrote and then deleted because I was such an idiot.
So the description on the front page for the Weird Earl reads thusly:
What I thought it said, and what I didn’t “get,” was:

You can see how this changes things, especially after going to the link and expecting to see someone’s site proudly announcing he’d never won a case, or he had just gotten his license back after its 10th suspension, and instead all I saw was a terrible, terrible portrait. I was all, well the picture is AWFUL but how does that make him “a bad one?” This was puzzling me greatly, hence the thread.
After reading the description again, I called myself a nimrod and changed my OP.
