Toffe's double essay night

What ho! 'Tis yet another night before
This flickering contraption. Not one, nay, two
Beflust’ring essays hath this personage
to haste upon the page this night. And yet
The task that lies upon the path of this
So roguish yet ambitious lad doth not
Deflect his spirit. Though, it must be said,
His mind does yet avoid the Muse. 'Tis hard,
He must admit, in every week a task
like this complete; yet such is Life’s long School.
This week, the tasks that do before him lie,
Include a documented work to show
The change’d nature of U.N., ere Nine-
-teen eighty five arrived. As well
As this comes China; woe to him that does
Not show just what calamity was brought
By Western nations to that land, that crushed,
Forevermore the rule and land of Qing.
'Tis good and worthy work; and yet our man
does yet procrastinate. All off’rings of
Support and cheer to last him through the night
Will yet do much, his temper to make glad.
And so, good friends, the work begins, the path
towards completion’s beer doth now begin.
Godspeed! The Muse shall yet be caught; the men
Who clowns and gentles equally do teach
Shall yet be satisfaction given. W00T!
Say I, for verily, the student shall
Upon a most delightful zephyr sail,
To Thoth a humble dedication make.

(Apologies if that was a bit crap, sticking to iambic pentameter, if I even got it right, was harder than I thought. At least it wasted time.)
