We would meet tomorrow morning at 9:45 am on the first floor of the parking garage attached to the Marriott. Please get folks to call our campaign office 281.343.1333 and let us know they can do it – or e-mail Leonard Cash (in the cc field above) so that we can get some head count. Let’s give Lampson a parting shot that wrecks his press conference, read the email from DeLay’s campaign manager. And they pretty much succeeded: surrounding the Dem candidate and getting right in his face while he was trying to speak, pushing people around, shoving a 69-year-old little old lady in the face (news video), and stuff like that.
A couple of things: there’s a big difference between a bunch of protesters shouting from some distance away from a speaker, and getting right on top of him.
There’s also a big difference between a bunch of countercultural kids protesting, and an operative of one of the most powerful political figures in recent history organizing a bit of thuggery like this.
DeLay, of course, has condemned…well, has he? I can’t find anything to that effect.
And btw, in addition to the news, I checked his House and campaign websites. If he’s released any sort of statement about this, he’s being mighty quiet about doing so.
Funny. I mentioned at three different points in the past being on the receiving side of similar treatment by union goons at a Clinton rally. These were threads you participated in, and yet you didn’t see fit at any time to condemn this behavior then.
Does it only raise your hackles when someone on your “list” does it?
Anyone on that squad who engaged in assault should be charged, just as those goons who pushed and shoved me, broke my signs, and groped the young woman I was with should have been charged as well.
Okay. Physical intimidation is always wrong. Mr. Moto has condemned Delay’s Goons and suggested that they should be criminally prosecuted. I agree that anyone who behaved similarly towards him should be prosecuted as well.
I wonder if he feels that the specific links between Delay and this group of intimidators, who were charged with the mission of giving “Lampson a parting shot that wrecks his press conference” mean anything about Delay’s moral culpability here.
Finally, I feel equally bad for Mr. Moto and for the 69 year-old woman in this story.
I feel slightly more badly for the 69 year-old woman than I do for Mr. Moto. While Mr. Moto is no doubt well equipped to handle a little rough and tumble, the same can not be said of the generic 69 year old woman.
I feel most bad for the 69 year old woman, of course.
I also feel bad for the young woman I was with at the rally, who was surrounded by a bunch of guys in union T-shirts and bumped, groped and insulted, solely for having a sign that they disagreed with.
You are a lying scumbag. I don’t for ine minute believe that the incident you describe happened. Not that it couldn’t have happened. Sure there may have been some insensitive fucktard union goons that acted like this. But even by your own admission it happened MANY FUCKIN G YEARS AGO. It in no way is similar to an organized attempt to disrupt a press conference.
Your pathetic attempt is nothing more than a variation on your theme of “but Clinton got a blowjob”. Why do you stick with it it never works. You are kind of like Bullwinkle that way I guess.
“Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.”
Why not? He’s not saying his parents died on 9/11 here. Unions are well known for having members that get a little out of control during confrontations.
Because Moto is a lying scumbag. If he said it was raining I would l look outside. An incident similar to the one he described may have happened. But given his track record here, I tend to believe that he heard the story second hand and then embellished it.
Okay, I feel equally bad for Mr. Moto, his young female companion, and the 69 year-old woman. All involved should be punished, including those Delay campaign officials who incited the intimidators.
I’m not sure I can recall any incidents of Mr. Moto lying. Certainly, I recall the debunked claims made by someone else (featured on Drudge IIRC) of being roughed up while protesting at a Democratic event. I’ll take him at his word, and express my sadness that he was roughed up along with his female companion.
Lessee here, on the one hand we have detailed news reports, which I have no reason not to beleive, that demonstrators organized by Tom DeLay’s campaign roughed up people at an opposition rally; on the other, Mr. Moto’s completely unverifiable claim that he was once roughed up many years ago at a rally for Clinton.
So, apparently, because some mook we know nothing about may or may not have been abused by a few loose-cannon Democrats some years ago, no one is allowed to criticize a group of Republicans, led by a Congressman’s campaign manager, for cryin’ out loud, for a well-verified case of blatant thuggery. Give me a fucking break.
Moto, IIRC less than 24 hours ago you yourself admitted in your melodramatic “I’m leaving” thread that you were sometimes overzealous in the defense of your particular partisan worldview. Then, almost immediately, you pull this crap. Dude, maybe it is time you left. In fact, I beleive the term “Piss off” is in order.
To hell with Tom DeLay, to hell with his goon squad, and to hell with anyone who defends them or tu quouqes for them. These assholes should have had their heads broken, right then and there. Fuck them all.
