DeLay dishes it out but can't take it

You’d think that tough-talkin’ Texan Tom DeLay (R.-Undead)* would have a thicker skin by now, wouldn’t you? That a throwaway zinger on a TV show wouldn’t even make it onto his radar? I mean, it’s not like the man doesn’t have more important things on his mind, right?

Think again. That hard-hitting journalistic “Just the facts, ma’am,” show Law and Order had the audacity to take his name in vain!

Waah waah waah. As the show’s executive producer pointed out:

*You don’t mind if I borrow this, do you, luci?

Ha! Love it. It seems as though Dick Wolf’s intent in making the comment was absolutely, 100% successful.

DeLay is a fucking tool.

I have to admit I totally do not get it. The suspect was supposed to be wearing a shirt with a picture of Tom DeLay on it, or that’s some euphemism for not knowing what he was wearing, or what?

No.

THey were looking for a suspect and had no leads and not the faintest idea of who they were looking for. The female detective, Eems(?), said facetiously that they should put an APB out for someone wearing a TOm DeLay shirt.

Sam

That still makes no sense to me. Why a Tom Delay T-shirt?

The comment that galls me from the CNN report is

Gee, from my recollection DeLay wanted to squelch parts of the judicial branch he disagreed with in spite of the constitutional system of checks and balances.

Yeah, he’s a true died-in-the-wool hypocrite. It just saddens me that so many of the good people of Texas actually vote for the moron.

It harkens back to this statement released by DeLay after Schiavo died:

The comment about the “men responsible” answering for their behavior was taken as a threat to the judges involved, and could have been interpreted by some to be his condoning some of the crap that was going on with death threats and whatnot at that time. He was more likely threatening them politically, not physically, IMO.

I didn’t see the show, but my assumption would be that the guy assaulted or killed a judge. Or something. I mean, given the GOP’s grandstanding about judicial activism, and how we need to kill them activist judges.

Ok, so they didn’t say we need to kill them. However, certain statements by Republican legislators can easily be interpreted as indirect threats. Plus, there’s been the whole issue of cutting off funding to parts of the judiciary that don’t toe the Republican party line.

OK, I blurred over the part about them looking for the the murderer of a judge, now it makes sense. Thanks!

The good people of Texas need to get a new government, without DeLay.

On another recent episode (I lose track of which one I’m watching and mostly tell them apart by the absence or presence of Mariska Hartigay, who looks not at all like her mom in all the best ways) an ADA wanted to subpoena Sec Rumsfeld and Senator Fred (why the hell did he get out of politics and back into acting? I didn’t always agree with him but he is an honorable man whom I respect–oh, I suppose THAT’S why :frowning: ) was more or less willing to go along with it. Thought it was interesting, considering.

DeLay is such a moron. If he had just let this slide by it would have been forgotten by now as just another throw away line in a drama. I saw the episode, and had forgotten it myself until the wussy threw a hissy to the media. He thinks it’s a genuine issue, and of course, he is. I’d agree with GaWd that DeLay is a tool, except that I always thought a tool was supposed to be something useful. Broken tool is more like it.

Nice reporting CNN. They just happen to drop one of the most important DeLay quotes from their story. The one quote that would explain the offhand L&O quip.

Without that context, the CNN story makes absolutely no sense. Grow some balls you idiots.

Hehe! This part of Dick Wolf’s reply:

I just love. That’s exactly what DeLay has been trying to do since his ethics troubles began. For some weird reason, he seems to think that pointing behind us and yelling “LOOK!” will make us forget him and his ethical disability.

Kudos to Dick Wolf for his ascerbic wit are in order, BTW.

In light of commentary, I will now say that Delay is a tool with a broken handle.

I really don’t think we should talk about people’s ethnic disabilities.

It’s like when you go to an Italian restaurant, and you get a piece of mozarella cheese stuck between your teeth. You know, how it’s real stringy and gooey at the same time, so you pick at it and pick at it, but you can’t get it out? And everybody’s watching you trying to dig between your teeth with your fingernail, but your nail’s too big and it won’t fit down in there? So you take a swig o’ water and you swish it all around your mouth, suckin’ and blowin’ and suckin’ and blowin’, tryin’ to dislodge that gooey little piece of stringy cheese? And then all of a sudden, this big stream of water shoots out o’ your mouth across the table, and everybody jumps, smashin’ their knees against the bottom of the table, and all the plates and glasses rattle, and somebody’s spoon goes sailing across the room? And it lands underneath the table of some really pissed of Mafioso guy whose mother just died, and you look a lot like the son of a bitch at the funeral home who accidentally cremated her body when she was supposed to have an open casket wake? God, I hate days like that.

What?..

Oh. Nevermind…

Um, Lib, the second part wasn’t channelling Emily Litella, it was channeling Rosanna Rosadanna. Just thought you wanted to know.

Isn’t it lucky for DeLay that he tries to find a way to deflect attention the day after his PAC was found to be in violation of Texas law. The amazing good fortune that man has…

Make that Rosanna Rosannadanna.

I love that this spokesman for the family and family values hasn’t spoken to his mother or siblings in years. (Even assuming that it’s “their” fault, you’d think that if family is so important [as he certainly said it was during his Schiavo Soundbytes] he’d work for some type of middleground resolution to preserve that “fundamental building block” of American culture.)

He is so going down and he so knows it. He’s probably in a bunker right now talking about the miracle weapons that will save him.
