Tom Green Makes Me Gag!!!

Ugh…I saw that one where he went into a grocery store, and was dressed as an old man, riding one of those carts, and knocking EVERYTHING over…as a former cashier in a grocery store, that pissed me off. I mean, did he even think of us poor slaves who have to clean it up?
Jerk.
Howard Stern sucks too, though, I’ll give you that.

My opinion of Tom Green: :wally

Re the thread subject: well, he probably makes Drew Barrymore gag, too!

Howard Stern just gives the public what it wants. He doesn’t inflict himself on anyone. Tom Green on the other hand, makes his living inflicting himself on people. They both are cancers, but Howard is benign and Tom is malignant and must be removed.

Don’t get me wrong, I really dislike Howard Stern, but Tom Green is worse.

The people Howard Stern makes fun of volunteer for the job. They line up to be humiliated by him. They’re a waste of carbon, if you ask me, and the most convincing argument I’ve seen for the decriminalization of aggravated assault, but Howard Stern just fulfills their fantasies of public humiliation.

Tom Green, on the other hand, actively accosts strangers, minding their own business, and humiliates them. I’d seriously look into assault charges, or maybe defamation, or something like that, if he “happened” to me. I think he’s a horrible bully who’s just trying to see what he can get away with. He really seems to hate people.

WTF??? I’m trying very hard not to focus my anger on somebody right now. I liked Farley a lot, not just because of his humour, but because he was a nice guy. I’m gonna go on now, before I get carried away. I don’t find if funny in the least to make fun of a celebrities death that affected a lot of people. And you’re going to focus your energy on Tom Green because of his humour?!?

I find Tom Green’s humour is a lot like Andy Kaufman’s in many regards. Also, like Kaufman, people either love him or hate him. Though, I must say, that I love Kaufman and like Tom Green too.

I don’t think that Enoch was implying that he finds anything funny about Chris Farley; his current state of being included.

As for not focusing your anger on anyone specific, are you instead saying you wander around a perpetual seething ball of rage, lashing out at anyone who slights you? I figure that the positive benefits of focusing all a person’s hatred on a celebrity (i.e. You don’t get angry with other people, just redirect the road rage onto a nice little DIE ARQUETTE, DIE! rand) outweighs the negative effects (i.e. nothing. It’s not like anyone dies just because people wish it. If you seriously believe that, then I have some wonderful herbal remedies that you can buy for that rage condition.)

Unlike Kaufman, Tom Green isn’t interesting. If you’re seriously comparing the two you probably don’t know very much about one of their work. Andy Kaufman was a brilliant self-parodist who redefined the way people think of stand up comedy. Tom Green is that kid from the third grade who eats worms and burps the alphabet.

Tom Green generally irritates me to no end. But, I have to admit, the Slutmobile was damn funny.

I realize this. Reread what I said, I know he didn’t like Farley. I said that it wasn’t funny to make fun of someone’s death, anyone’s death for that matter. I was simply saying that I liked Farley.

No, sorry to disappoint you, but I don’t go around being continually angry. I’m a happy person, and let things that annoy or bug me slide. Sure, things make me mad, but I don’t let it eat me up inside.

So you’re saying that focusing all your attention and hatred in you on a celebrity is a positive thing? So much so that when said celebrity actually dies, you think a person dying is a positive thing? Well, if that’s your thing, than go right ahead and do it. This seems like you are a walking around, a perpetually seething ball of rage, but hey, that’s just me. However, I do not take any person’s death as a joke. I wasn’t seriously believing that wishing made Farley die. Rereading my post, I don’t even see how you could have gotten that at all. I said I didn’t think making fun of Chris Farley’s death was funny, and it was much worse than anything Green did.

I didn’t seriously compare their work. I said that Green’s humour was similar to Kaufman’s in several regards. Meaning that Green is trying to immitate some of Kaufman’s humour. Kaufman was, to a great degree, a behavioural scientist. He did things to see what people’s reaction’s would be. He made people laugh, he made people angry, he made people sad, and he didn’t like to be thought of as just a stand-up comic. He wanted to push the envelope past the comfort level. Kaufman wanted to redefine what a performer was. Remember the “Has-Been Corner”? How about reading “The Great Gatsby”. He would purposely “bomb” just to see the audience cringe. Green, though I admit on a almost childish level by comparison, does things to get reactions. He, like Kaufman, wants to get the full spectrum of human emotions. Yes, in comparison, is like the kid that eats worms. But they still share that respect of wanting to see people’s reactions.
