I’m heartbroken to hear this. As I wrote in the online comments:

Shit. He’s one of my favorites. The grotesqueness of his depiction of trump fit the subject matter perfectly.

While he leaves as a WaPo cartoonist after 18 years there, his first 28 years were spent writing for Buffalo newspapers, including the Buffalo News and Courier-Express, and where he won his 1990 Pulitzer (at the Buff News). I grew up reading him and will miss his voice much.

Apparently he went to the University of Buffalo, where he got his start as as a political cartoonist.

Sorry, that should be the University at Buffalo (aka SUNY Buffalo).

Both right. It used to be University of Buffalo before it was absorbed into the SUNY system

At least he’s only retiring.
